Clinton To FG: You Have Not Done Well With Oil Money

Clinton To FG: You Have Not Done Well With Oil Money

Former United States president Bill Clinton yesterday came hard on the federal government, saying it is regrettable that the country has not managed resources realised from oil money effectively.

Clinton, the 42nd president of the US, spoke in Abeokuta, Ogun State, during the 18th edition of the THISDAY Awards. He also lamented the growing rate of poverty in Nigeria. If the trend is not reversed, he warned, it portends a great challenge to the country.

"I would say you have challenges. First of all, like 90 per cent of countries who have one big resource, you haven't done well with your oil money. You should have reinvested it in different ways. You don't do a better job of managing natural resources," the former American leader said, adding that the country could only achieve its potential "if you bring economic opportunity to the people who don't have".

"This is not a problem specific to Nigeria. Almost every place in the world, prosperity is heavily concentrated in and around urban areas," he noted. "The poverty line in the whole of Africa has taken a very alarming dimension."

Calling on leaders to salvage the situation through proper education and empowerment of the youths, he stated: "With qualitative and efficient education, the continent could be liberated and empowered through the use of different technologies that are evolving daily. And then, you have to empower people with education, so they can succeed at home as well as around the world, so that all these political problems and religious differences, and all the rhetoric of Boko Haram could be surmounted."

Attributing the crisis in the country to poverty, Clinton said: "The truth is the poverty rate in the north which is three times greater than what it is in the Lagos area, and to deal with that, you have to have both powerful stake in the local governments and a national policy that work together.

Clinton further disclosed that there was the need for the country to harness its intellectuals and individuals with track records all over the world. He said: "There has to be a way to take the staggering intellectual and organisational ability that Nigerians exhibit in every country in the world in which they are immigrants and bring it to bear here so that the country as a whole can rise.

"One of the people on my trip with me today who unfortunately could not come up here because he had to go visit his family is a young Nigerian-American named Nnamdi. He is an all pro-quarter back footballer for the Philadelphia Eagles. He's a wonderful man; he does great work in America for poor kids in Arkansas City and he became a friend of mine.

"Both his parents have PhDs; his sister has a PhD. He often says, 'I'm the failure in my family and I only have a university degree and I play football.' My point is: there are Nigerians who are like this all over the world! What you have to figure out is how to keep those people in Nigeria and how to ensure their success leads on into the rest of the country."

The former US president further called for investment in infrastructure, saying that the development would foster positive growth. "I think solving the economic divide that is in your country will help the political divide; making better use of your resources, advising that the country should invest more on infrastructure," he said. "Nigeria is trying to set up an investment fund where the federal government will set it up and the governors are being consulted so that they can concentrate the capital. That is the problem in India. They have unbelievable entrepreneurs but they are not very good at collecting capital and investing it in infrastructure so that they can unite the poor part of the country with the rich part. That's what you have to do."

The event was witnessed by former president Olusegun Obasanjo and the governors of Ogun and Delta states, Ibikunle Amosun and Emmanuel Uduaghan respectively. The theme of the event was "Celebrating Teachers".

About 18 teachers were given a cash award of N2 million naira each. Other individuals were honoured on the occasion.

Extending your laptop’s battery life

Extending your laptop's battery life

You can make your laptop run longer on its battery by turning off or reduce all the things that expend power in your computer. If you are going on a long trip, or just taking your laptop to a local coffee shop, use these tips to help your laptop's battery power last longer.

Switch off the wireless card if you do not plan to access your network or Internet connection: For Mac laptops, there is a button for powering on and off your wireless device is found on the toolbar at top.

Reduce the LCD's brightness level: If you use your laptop in a well lit area or outdoors on a sunny day, try setting it at two or three bars.

Disable Bluetooth: If you don't use this device, you can safely disable it to avoid draining your laptop's battery.

Learn to single-task: PC memory that is in-use takes more power to hold data. Also, using more memory might mean using more swap or virtual memory space on your laptop's hard drive. All of this puts an additional drain on your laptop's battery. Instead of leaving multiple applications and windows open, use only what you need at any given time. If your laptop has plenty of memory, then keep multiple applications open to avoid loading repeatedly from the hard drive. Close all the applications that run in the background on your computer like your PDA syncing software or USB hard drive backup software.

Run simple applications that don't use much RAM, disk drive or processing power: Need to write a letter? Use a basic text editor rather than the processor and RAM heavy Microsoft Word. Graphics heavy applications like games or movie watching are especially hard on the battery.

Avoid extreme temperatures: Batteries rely on basic chemistry and will die faster at extreme temperatures. Try to charge and use the battery at room temperatures.

Use the power management settings on your computer that come built in: On Windows XP, click "Power Options" in your control panel. On a Mac, look for "Energy Saver" in System Preferences.

Unplug external devices such as a USB mouse or an external drive.

Shut down or hibernate the laptop rather than using standby, if you plan on not using it for a while: Standby continues to drain energy to keep your laptop ready to go when you open the cover.

Clean your battery contacts: Clean the battery's metal contacts with rubbing alcohol on a damp cloth. Clean contacts increase the energy efficiency.

Keep the battery fresh: Batteries leak power if they aren't used fairly soon after charging. If you use your "full" battery two weeks after you last charged it, you may discover it is empty.

Defrag your hard drive: The more fragmented your hard drive is the more your hard disk needs to work.

Avoid using a CD or DVD: If you store a copy of data you need on an optical disc, copy it to your laptop's hard drive or a thumb drive before traveling. Optical drives consume large amounts of power to spin up CDs and DVDs. Try to avoid applications that keep your hard drive or optical drive spinning. Need to play music? Try to use your handheld MP3 player, rather than playing songs on your computer. Playing songs on your computer will keep the hard drive working which uses energy. Turn off the auto save feature on MS Word or Excel. Constant saving will keep your hard drive turning and using energy.

Turn off ports: Disabling unused ports and components, such as VGA, Ethernet, PCMCIA, USB, and yes, your wireless, too. You can do this through the Device Manager or by configuring a separate hardware profile

Create Power-Saving Hardware Profiles: Configure your laptop for the various scenarios in which you use it (on a plane, at the coffee shop, at the office, and so on). You can do this through the Hardware Profiles menu by right-clicking on My Computer and selecting Preferences or by using a freeware utility such as SparkleXP.

Avoid propping your laptop on a pillow, blanket, or other soft surface that can heat up.

If your laptop has an OLED based display then avoid displaying white images: OLED screens consume a lot less power displaying black.

Avoid many games and other applications: Games that use up lots of graphics and applications that keep contacting the internet server sending information back and forth.

Shocking! Powerful Men Like Drug Barons Stealing Crude Oil in Nigeria

Shocking! Powerful Men Like Drug Barons Stealing Crude Oil in Nigeria

Instead of going to European and other foreign countries to seek for help on how to tackle crude oil theft, the Goodluck Jonathan government has been advised to be bold and move against "principalities and powers in high places," who are responsible for crude oil theft in Nigeria.

This revelation came from an insider, the Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, in Abuja on Wednesday.

Sunmonu, who spoke at the ongoing Nigeria Oil and Gas 2013 Exhibition and Conference, compared the stolen crude deal to the drug business with couriers, small dealers and sponsors.

Sunmonu said like the deadly drug business, criminals who sabotaged oil pipelines were working for strong men that should be found out and dealt with of the government is serious.

"The truth is that the small criminals in the creeks of Niger Delta bursting pipelines and stealing crude oil are not working for themselves. Like the drug cartels around the world, they are being sponsored by big principalities and powers in high places, which the government should go against if the fight against crude oil theft is to be won," he said.

The Shell boss said advised those in government to tackle poverty among Nigerians, adding that if this was taken care of, the problem would have been half solved, as the perpetrators would not have any reason to allow themselves to be used to steal the country's commonwealth.

This Woman Lost Her Pregnancy in the Hands of Lagos State KAI Officials

This Woman Lost Her Pregnancy in the Hands of Lagos State KAI Officials

A pregnant woman, Nkechi Omakagu, has accused men of the Lagos State Kick Against Indiscipline of being responsible for the loss of her six-month-old pregnancy. Nkechi said she lost her pregnancy during many hours of grueling experience in KAI's detention camp.

She said her ordeal began when she was being rushed to a hospital in Gbagada, Lagos, during one of the recent environmental sanitation in the state.

Nkechi told Punch that herself and a neighbour driver were accosted by KAI men, who insisted that they would detain them and be made to pay fines before they would be released.

Narrating her ordeal, she said: "Early in the morning of January 26, 2012, I was feeling pains in my stomach but because it was midnight and the pain was not constant, I tried to endure it. When it was 7am, my husband suggested that we go to a hospital because it had become intense. He begged our neighbour, Emeka Ozor, to take me to a hospital in Gbagada.

"When we got to Obanikoro, a team of KAI officials accosted us and told us that we had no excuse for being out on sanitation day before 10am. One of the KAI men forced Ozor out of the driver's seat and drove us to their office."

She said on getting to the office, the vehicle was handed over to a woman in mufti whom the KAI men referred to as Alhaja. Nkechi said she pleaded with Alhaja to allow her go for treatment but the woman did not agree, saying that there was no excuse for contravening the state's laws.

"While in serious pain, I pleaded with Alhaja to let me go for treatment considering my condition but she refused. I even tried to appeal to her feminine side since she ought to know what pregnancy pains feels like but all my entreaties fell on deaf ears", she said.

Nkechi said while she was pleading, another KAI official, identified only as Emperor, told Alhaja that the amount of money that would be paid as bail was N10,000.

She added that Alhaja said, mockingly, that she could give birth to a baby in the compound.

Nkechi said when she could not produce the money, the KAI men took her and Ozor, along with the vehicle to the premises of the Magistrate's Court in Ikoyi, where the KAI men demanded N50,000.

She said at that point, the pain had become constant and more intense, adding that she began to have premature contractions.

She said she was released eight hours after her arrest and after parting with N5,000. "I was released at 3pm, about eight hours after I was arrested. The KAI men still held on to the vehicle, so my husband had to get a taxi which took us down to the hospital. The KAI men collected N5,000 and did not issue us a receipt," she said.

She said on getting to the hospital, the doctor confirmed that her pregnancy had been threatened as a result of 'serious stress and strain' which she had gone through. The doctor prescribed some drugs for her and confined her to bed rest.

But unfortunately, "On January 27 (the next day), I was diagnosed with premature contractions and was later informed that the foetus was dead," she said.

Olufamous.com gathered that Nkechi has been crying as the KAI men have made her lose her first child because of bribe money. A copy of the medical report made available to Punch said the foetus died of 'Cardio-pulmonary failure and prematurity'.

Meanwhile, the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Bus with number plate, BT292EPE, is still in custody of KAI.

Governor Babatunde Fashola, please call your men to order in Lagos...this is too bad!

Google Launches Touchscreen ‘Pixel’ Laptop

Google Launches Touchscreen 'Pixel' Laptop

Google has launched a touchscreen laptop in a bid to take on Apple in the luxury laptop market.
The $1049 Chromebook Pixel has a high resolution display that makes individual pixels invisible to the naked eye.
Although Apple has a similar display, Google says the addition of touch, and 1TB of free storage on an online hard drive, make its machine more attractive to 'power' users.
'We wanted to rethink everything possible in a laptop,' said Sundar Pichai of Google, who revealed the machine at a special event run in Silicon Valley and London.
'The screen is the highest resolution screen ever shipped on a laptop, and we don't want users to deal with pixels – so users will never see them.
'People want to reach out and touch – so we built in full touch.'
The laptop, the first Google has designed and built itself, will be made in Taiwan.
It will compete directly with Apple.
'Apple has been at this a long time, and has built something amazing,' Pichai said of Apple's products.
'But if you live in the cloud this is the best experience you can have.'
The machine uses Google's Chrome OS, which is based on the firm's web browser.
Although it does have a hard drive like a traditional laptop, Google also gives buyers a 1TB drive on its 'cloud' service, which is free for three years – although the firm said it did not know how much users would have to pay to keep this after three years.
'We believe that's about the lifespan of the Pixel,' said Mr Pichai.
He said the firm expected other manufacturers to release touchscreen laptops soon.
'Pixel is a fully finished project – but we hope it will show that Chrome is ready for touch,' he said.
Google has already developed special touch versions of its apps, and said it expected other developers to do so quickly.
The gadget will compete with Microoft's recent Surface tablet, which has a clip-on keyboard to turn it into a 'real' laptop.
A Pro version capable of running the firm's latest Windows 8 software, and costing $999 in the US, was recently released, but the firm has refused to reveal sales details or say when it could become available in other countries.
Intel has also been working manufacturers on 'convertible' laptops, called Ultrabooks.
Some designs have screen that flip over, while others rotate, allowing the gadget to be used as both a traditional laptop and a tablet.
The firm also hit back at complaints that users could become confused between the laptop and tablet running its Android software.
'Now the lines are blurring, we have two viewpoints here and we are doing both – we are giving a choice to the world,' he said.

SSS Generates ‘Catch-Them’ List of Foreign Based [Online] Journalists

SSS Generates 'Catch-Them' List of Foreign Based [Online] Journalists

SSS Operatives

SSS Operatives

The push to silence open criticism of the Federal Government of Nigeria appears to have found its way back into governing protocols of the presidency and its various security outposts.

Credible information available to 247ureports.com reveal the approach adopted by the presidency – through the utilization of Nigeria's secret police – for the intimidation and harassment of select Journalists from publishing unfavorable reports on the presidency and on the person of the President.

As gathered, the State Security Service – the SSS were recently handed a list of online Journalists based mainly in the United States of America. The list was generated by aides to Mr. President - vetted and cleared by the presidency and forwarded to the SSS for appropriate actions.

The SSS was directed to halt the selected Journalists at the Airports – when they try to gain entrance into the country.

Among the list of online journalists on list are the publisher of 247ureports.com, the publisher of the African Examiner, Elombah.com and others. Two other online Journalists who were formally on the catch-them list – pointblanknews and thewillnigeria – were recently taken off. Details as to why the two Journalists were removed from the list are not readily available but a source point to the cozy relationship between the presidency and the two Journalists.

The SSS, in the recent past, had generated a catch-them list during the Yar'Adua/Jonathan administration – which netted the arrests of the publisher of Huhuonline.com, Emmanuel Asiwe and a Columnist of Saharareporters, Okey Ndibe. Both Journalists were arrested by the operatives of SSS upon their entry into Nigeria – at the Airport – as they arrived the immigration counter. Asiwe was detained for 12days and Ndibe was detained for alittle over a week.

Our source revealed that the SSS had interrogated the arrested men over links with foreign intelligent services. Asiwe was accused of having links with the United States of America's espionage program – of which Asiwe denied and was later cleared. The agents of SSS wanted to know the source of their reports – and who the sponsors of the publications were.

When it became clear that the allegations were without proof or evidence, the security agent then softened and extended an olive branch to the men. Offers were made to the two men – to join forces with the SSS – on intelligence sharing. Our source revealed that the offer was turned down.

The renewed effort to start the arrest and detention of foreign based journalist by the Nigerian secret police, according our source, is predicated on the premise that foreign governments may have hired the services of the journalist to aide in the destabilization of the Nigerian government. Such foreign governments as Iran, Libya, USA, Israel, are suspected by the secret police to have hired the services of the mentioned journalists.

However other sources outside the confines of the secret police point to a more cynical reason for the renewed effort to arrest and detain the foreign based Journalists. They point directly to the upcoming pre-election activities of the 2015 presidential tussle – as the principal factor behind the catch-them list. They indicate that it has become customary to 'shakedown' the voice of the opposition – during electoral exercises that are deemed too close to call – as in the new threat posed by the new mega party – the All Progressive Congress.

"Expect the organs of oppression to be at work now. The EFCC, ICPC, SSS, Police, FIRS will work together to harass and intimidate them back into their cubicles" said a competent source in Abuja who is a card carrying member of the ruling party – the Peoples Democratic Party. The PDP top ranking member cautioned that the political tension spells of volatility and desperation on all sides of the aisle. "The president is desperate and the folks in APC are equally desperate".

What a pity!

What a pity!

MY younger brother downloaded an interesting video from the internet. It was a short clip about one Oyinbo woman who visited a local market, probably in Lagos, to interact with the traders. The traders were amused when she started conversing in Yoruba. "E lo l'ele yi?" (How much is this?) She asked, pointing to a small heap of onions on their table. "E lo ni jale?" she bargained further. One of the traders, perhaps a sister or daughter of a market woman, tried to speak English with the Oyinbo but she protested in Yoruba, questioning why the young lady didn't want to converse in the language. This was indeed unusual and interesting. A white woman conversing with market women in Yoruba! Unbelievable! Many whites do not patronise local markets; neither do they converse in our local dialects. She soon had a captivated audience curious to learn about her.

"Ki l'oruko e?" They asked. "Titilayo", she answered and they laughed. The questions went back and forth. They wanted to know where she learnt the language. She wanted to know about the items on display. She asked about stock fish, whether it was used to cook with Ewedu soup. They told her Egusi soup was more like it. Yes! Egusi soup. It sounded familiar to her. She knew it was prepared with epo pupa (palm oil). They affirmed it was so.

So, where did Titilayo learn Yoruba from? She answered indirectly. The question was not actually direct too. One of the women repeatedly told her "O ma sanwo Yoruba ti o n so (you will pay for the Yoruba you are speaking). "Mo ni sanwo o. Mo ti sanwo ni America, " she replied.

And when one of the trader's children claimed she could not speak Yoruba fluently, Titilayo responded by saying, "O ma se o!" (What a pity).

It is indeed a pity that an American would learn Yoruba well enough in her country to converse with us while many parents today deny their children the privilege of speaking it or other Nigerian languages. I wish every parent could watch the Titilayo movie. Maybe then it will dawn on them that downgrading their mother tongue in favour of the English Language is not a wise decision. God has wired young children, especially to grasp many languages at once. While experts say a baby from a bilingual background may experience slight delay in speaking initially, they catch up with their peers as they grow, and definitely have an advantage over those who learn only one language. The experts also say the advantage of learning two languages far outweighs the initial delays in speaking.

What are the modern day parents afraid of? Why limit the educational and cultural experiences of these children by imposing English Language on them? Some couples speak their local dialect to each other and English to their wards. Ultimately, many children grab the language that way but are not fluent. Sometimes, the children understand what they are being told in their mother tongue but refuse to speak it because they feel it is degrading to do so; that only uneducated people speak in local languages.

However, how children regard their mother tongue is dependent on how their parents handle the matter. In some households, a few of them nowadays, English Language is forbidden. The children only speak it in school or to outsiders, not to their parents. In some other homes where the parents are not from the same part of the country, they find a common ground with the English Language, and sadly, their wards miss out from learning their mother tongues. While it is likely they learn their mothers' languages, many fathers buck at such happening and do not allow their wives to teach them. But language experts say, it is possible for parents from different backgrounds to speak their languages to their wards individually and the child would learn. In other words, it is possible for an Igbo man to speak Igbo to his son, while he learns Yoruba from his Southwestern mother without hitches. The beauty of it is that the child can still learn English Language.

The task of teaching the mother tongue and culture is for parents and not the school. Parents are a child's first teachers, and the home his first school. If they choose to fail in this responsibility, like Titilayo, I can only say, "O ma se o!"

Iranian terrorist cell discovered in Lagos – SSS

Iranian terrorist cell discovered in Lagos – SSS

by Rachel Ogbu

sss-NIGERIA

An Iranian terror cell gathering information about Israelis and Americans living in Nigeria was uncovered in Lagos recently.

The State Security Service in Abuja on Wednesday said they made the discovery while parading a leader of an Islamic sect, Abdullahi Berende, 50, Sulaiman Saka and Saheed Adewunmi.

The three allegedly worked for Iranian terrorists planning to attack Americans and Israelis in the country while planning a plot attack two prominent Nigerians.

The SSS are still searching for a third suspect, Bunyamin Yusuf.

The targets of the plot include former President Ibrahim Babangida and former Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki, reports claim.

According to the Deputy Director Public Relations, SSS, Marilyn Ogar: "There is conclusive evidence that Berende in collaboration with his Iranian handlers was involved in grievous crimes against the national security of this country. Accordingly, Berende and his accomplices will be charged to court soon."

Berende alleged leader of the Shi'a Islamic sect in Ilorin, Kwara State, spoke to journalists when he was paraded. He said that he worked for the "people who were ready to capitalise on my weakness," though he denied being part of a terrorist network.

Ogar disclosed that Berende was in fact an Islamic teacher, and local leader of the Shiite sect was investigated and it was revealed he made a number of suspicious trips to Iran where he interacted with some Iranians known to operate a high-profile international terrorist network.

Berende after an interrogation, confessed that in 2006, he gained admission to study a six-month course in modern Shi'a Islamic teaching (Da'awa) at Imam Khomeini University, Iran.

According to Ogar, he said that he was recruited by some Iranian elements when he returned to Iran for further studies in 2011 and was subsequently trained in the use of AK47 assault rifle, pistols, production and detonation of Improvised Explosive Devices and after he returned to Nigeria, he was invited by his handlers to Dubai for further briefing in April 2012; he was tasked to establish a terrorist cell in the South-Western part of Nigeria with particular emphasis on Lagos.

To fulfill his assignment to start a terrorist cell, Berende recruited Saka, Adewunmi and Yusuf, adding that the Iranian sponsors requested that he identified and gathered intelligence on public places and prominent hotels frequented by Americans and Israelis.

Ogar sspeaking to journalist said that the Islamic teacher admitted that he personally took photographs of the Israeli cultural centre in Ikoyi, Lagos, which he sent to his trainers.

"The suspect said that his Iranian handlers directed him to secure their communication by using codes to represent targets, e.g. Uncle (Israel), Aunt (America) and that Lagos was preferred (as operation centre) because his handlers believed that the Israelis have an intelligence facility there that is used in spying on Iran.

The Punch reports:

Berende was said to have confessed to interrogators that he received $4,000 upon completion of his training in Iran; €3,500 in April, 2012 at the meeting in Dubai; and another $20,000. out of which he used $10,000 in relocating to Lagos from Ilorin, furnishing a house and renting a shop for his business.

He also spent $5000 to cover visa processing expenses while the remaining $5000 was for his up-keep.

Berende who claimed to be a Master's student at the University of Ilorin, in an interview with journalists said he regretted "betraying my country", adding that his handler whom he referred to as Amir, preyed on his weakness.

He denied working for any international or local terror network, adding that his handler only requested him to get information on American and Israeli targets in Lagos.

"Despite my education, despite my experiences in guiding people, I still fell prey to this kind of machination; it's a regrettable phenomenon to me and I am not proud of it. Every Nigerian should watch out for people who are there to capitalise on their weaknesses," he said.

Attempts to reach the Iranian Embassy for comments on Wednesday were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

Calls to the Embassy's two fixed and one mobile telephone lines by one of our correspondents did not go through.

The Iranian Embassy in Nigeria is located behind the National Headquarters of the SSS.

A Nigerian employee of the Embassy who asked not to be named for fear of retribution said, "I have not heard about this and we have closed for the day, I think you have to wait till tomorrow."

He promised to send the contacts of the new Media Relations Officer, a certain Mr. Farah, but never did

An Iranian, Azim Aghajani, is currently being prosecuted for importing arms and ammunition into Nigeria.

Aghajani, a Tehran businessman, is also a member of Iran's Revolutionary Guards.

Three Nigerians were also charged in connection with the shipment, which contained rockets and grenades hidden among building materials.

The court said Aghajani had been charged with attempting to import prohibited arms into Nigeria and conspiring to send the illegal shipment to the Gambia.

Two of the three Nigerian defendants were only charged with conspiring to re-export the shipment to the Gambia.

Meanwhile, the Senate and the House of Representatives on Wednesday said they had harmonised their differences on the Bill for an Act to Amend the Terrorism (Prevention)Act 2011.

Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Senator Mohammed Magoro, while presenting the conference report on the floor of the Senate, said the House version on the death penalty for terrorists was adopted instead of the Senate's life imprisonment.

Section 1(2) of the bill reads: "A person or body corporate who knowingly in or outside Nigeria directly or indirectly willingly (a) does, attempts or threatens any act of terrorism; (b) commits an act of preparatory to or in furtherance of an act of terrorism; (c) omits to do anything that is reasonably necessary to prevent an act of terrorism; (d) assists or facilitates the activities of persons engaged in an act of terrorism or is an accessory to any offence under this Act. "(e) participates as an accomplice in the commission of an offence under this act; (f) assists, facilitates, organises or directs the activities of persons or organisations engaged in any act of terrorism; (g) is an accessory to any offence under this act; (h) participates as an accomplice in or contributes to the commission of any act of terrorism or offences under this Act, or (i) incites, promises, induces any other person by any means whatsoever to commit any act of the offences referred to in this Act commits an offence under this Act and is liable on conviction to maximum of death sentence."

Magoro said the House version which vested the coordination counter terrorism activities in the National Security Adviser, was also adopted.

Unbelievable!! Pope Resigned To Avoid Arrest and Shut Down of Catholic Church

Unbelievable!! Pope Resigned To Avoid Arrest and Shut Down of Catholic Church

When Pope Benedict XVI tweeted something about all of us being sinners, those with deep insight said his tweets has some undertones. And latest revelations are kind of confirming such 'undertones':

According to the ITCCS (International Tribunal into Crimes of Church & State), Pope Benedict is stepping down as Pope due to pending charges for criminal conspiracy to aid and protect child torture and trafficking against the respected Christian leader. This is worrisome....

The report reveals that the organization has procured an arrest warrant for the Pope from an European nation and will move to place a commercial lien against all the financial assets of the Catholic Church, Vatican, effective Easter Sunday, 3/31/13 via international law and the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court.

The ITCCS states that it will proceed with the arrest warrant for Pope Benedict even after he vacated the office of Pope, and will also pursue charges against his replacement as head of the Vatican.

A brief research into ITCCS seems to indicate that it's a small international tribunal. Olufamous.com awaits confirmation of the arrest warrant and charges against Pope Benedict before we can say more.

You may wish to know that the Vatican was enmeshed in a money laundering scandal this past summer with its banker, JP Morgan.

Who Are You??? Your Sleeping Position Says It All

Most of our communication is none verbal right? This goes to say that even while we are asleep, we give off messages about ourselves that we are not even aware of. According to a recent study, your sleeping position tells a lot about your personality traits. Here are  six basic sleeping positions and what they say about you:

The Fetal position:  This is the most common sleeping style obtainable. According to research, 41% of people take this sleeping style. This style involves sleeping in a fetal position,  curled up on your side with your knees drawn up to your mid region.  Sleepers  in this category  tend to be sensitive and shy though they present a tough exterior to the world.

The Solider position: This position involves sleeping on your back with your arms flat on your back. This is an  indication of  a reserved personality  but with high standards and principles.

The Starfish Position:  Lying on your back with arms outstretched  indicates an open personality. This individual prefers to be in the background but they enjoy having a good time with friends.

The Freefall Position:  The face down  position as it is popularly known involves lying flat on one's stomach  with arms under head . This personality trait shows a gregarious person who might be extremely sensitive and shy of criticism.

The Log Position:  Stretched out on one's side with arms on the side shows  a social, easy going personality.

The Yearner: This position also lying on the side with arms stretched outward. This  is slightly similar to the log position but different in personality traits from the log position. The yearner is a highly suspicious and critical person.  The yearner is a cynical person.

ONIONS! I HAD NEVER HEARD OF

ONIONS! I HAD NEVER HEARD OF

ONIONS! I HAD NEVER HEARD OF
In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them combat the flu...
Many of the farmers and their families had contracted it and many died.
The doctor came upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy. When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then). The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of the onions and place it under the microscope. She gave him one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in the onion. It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family healthy.
Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser. She said that several years ago, many of her employees were coming down with the flu, and so were many of her customers. The next year she placed several bowls with onions around in her shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work. Try it and see what happens. We did it last year and we never got the flu.
Now there is a P. S. to this for I sent it to a friend in Oregon who regularly contributes material to me on health issues. She replied with this most interesting experience about onions:
Thanks for the reminder. I don't know about the farmer's story...but, I do know that I contacted pneumonia, and, needless to say, I was very ill... I came across an article that said to cut both ends off an onion put it into an empty jar, and place the jar next to the sick patient at night. It said the onion would be black in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.
Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.
This is the other note. Lots of times when we have stomach problems we don't know what to blame. Maybe it's the onions that are to blame. Onions absorb bacteria is the reason they are so good at preventing us from getting colds and flu and is the very reason we shouldn't eat an onion that has been sitting for a time after it has been cut open.
LEFT OVER ONIONS ARE POISONOUS
I had the wonderful privilege of touring Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise. Questions about food poisoning came up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.
Ed, who was our tour guide, is a food chemistry whiz. During the tour, someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise you. Ed said that all commercially-made mayo is completely safe.
"It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. No harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary." He explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the summer picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table, and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.
Ed says that, when food poisoning is reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim' last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the ONIONS, and if not the onions, it's the POTATOES.
He explained onions are a huge magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan to keep a portion of a sliced onion.. He says it's not even safe if you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator.
It's already contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put in your hotdogs at the baseball park!). Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist potato in a potato salad, will attract and grow bacteria faster than any commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.
Also, dogs should never eat onions. Their stomachs cannot metabolize onions.
Please remember it is dangerous to cut an onion and try to use it to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single night and creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

“All children need a mum” – Gay man speaks out against gay marriage

"All children need a mum" – Gay man speaks out against gay marriage

Doug Mainwaring is a man that you've probably never seen before and probably never will see again.  He's gay, but he's also against gay marriage. Not only is he against gay marriage, he says that children need a mother and father, and he's willing to speak out on it.

"For a long time I thought, if I could just find the right partner, we could raise my kids together, but it became increasingly apparent to me, even if I found somebody else exactly like me, who loved my kids as much as I do, there would still be a gaping hole in their lives because they need a mom," Mainwaring, co-founder of National Capital Tea Party Patriots, said to the Christian Post.

Mainwaring is now living with his ex-wife as a co-parent so they can raise his sons as a traditional family.  This opinion might not be a popular one as the world has really started to push an all-gay agenda, but it seems to be one that has been thought out and might be good for helping a child cope with the rest of society.

"I don't want to see children being engineered for same-sex couples where there is either a mom missing or a dad missing," Mainwaring explained. "Somebody needs to stand up for the rights and needs of children in an age when the selfishness of adults seems to be trumping those rights."

When someone asked Mainwaring how he could be a gay conservative, he replied by asking, "You're an adult, you have children.  How could you be a liberal?"

This led to the audience erupting in applause in response to his remarks.  What do you think?  Is it possible for a gay man to believe that children are better off with a mother and a father, or would he automatically be labeled as a sell-out?

13 ways to know a movie that is made by Nollywood

I cannot laugh.
» naijaPOSE

You  know a movie is by Nollywood when;

Nkem-Owoh

1. A girl carries the same hairstyle even after 2 years

2. A woman barges into her husband with another woman in a hotel room. Who gave her the key?

3. Chief is inside the car with the glasses wound up, armed robbers attack and shoots at chief, the bullet won't break the glass but will kill chief inside the car.

4. A man shoots himself on the head 3 times. How in the world is that possible?

5. RMD remembering when he was still 7 years old as far back as 1960 and suddenly a HUMMER JEEP passes in front of him.

6. Patience Ozokwor poisons Zark Orji's food. She stirs the poison so that it will circulate to all parts of the meal and then she tastes it. Zack Orji dies while she survives.

7. Someone flashes back to 1982 and behind him is a sign board "Vote for Uduaghan" .

8. A 7 year old character is washing plates and he suddenly becomes an adult in his 20′s still washing the same plates and wearing the same trousers.

9. Omotola is depicted as a poor woman suffering in the village and has to do serious farm work to survive, only for you to see that her fingernails are fixed with long plastic nails and painted crimson red.

10. Tonto Dike acting a born again village girl, yet has tattoos on her body.

11. Zack Orji is RMD's father, and Funso Adeolu is married to Rachael Oniga and Fathia Balogun is their daughter.

12. Someone dies with low cut and his spirit comes back wearing afro.

13. A woman suddenly decides to poison her husband, then she opens her food cabinet and brings out the substance. Is poison part of cooking ingredients?

Hilarious but usually true. Guess the cast director is guilty of all charges.

Jonathan Belittled His Office By Kneeling In Front Of Adeboye ––Pastor Bakare

Jonathan Belittled His Office By Kneeling In Front Of Adeboye ––Pastor Bakare

Is it right for a President to kneel in public for prayers? See what Tunde Bakare thinks:
"See, I am not saying that pastors should not pray for presidents, that man was representing an office; a whole nation crumbling before men of God because of political advantage they think they can get. And if the prayer will bail him out, let us wait and see....
"By going to kneel down in the open before the pastor, the man (Jonathan) did not even recognise the dignity of his office. If it were a private thing, it is okay for you to crawl or kneel but it is a whole nation. That office has been diminished by a man who does not know the worth of it and does not deserve to stay there for one more day."
He asked further, "The truth is who is preparing for 2015, which faction of the PDP? Is it the (Olusegun) Obasanjo faction? Or IBB faction? Or Jonathan faction? The governors' faction? Because PDP is a house divided against itself; it's a chicken that has begun to eat its own intestines."
Do you agree with Pastor Bakare on the kneeling issue?

Yes I do!

The primitive claim in nigeria is that pastors are fathers. I think this stems from an attempt to justify our traditional background by the leadership structure in the ancient Israel, where prophets select and install kings by divine guidance. Biblical record showed that the kings did call on the prophets as to fathers especially in moments of crisis.

This is not the situation however in the political climate in nigeria. Pastors are servant leaders to the people of God while a president is a ruler.

Personages like Pastor Adeboye have been honored by many politicians as father, yet that doesn't make him father to the sitting president in Nigeria.  He, Pastor Adeboye is an honorable man, no doubt.

We should discourage displays like this howbeit. I believe it was not done by Jonathan in sincerity. It wasn't a christian submission or deference, it was rather a political maneuver to secure votes from a mega church whose membership cuts across the states in nigeria.

Pastor Bakare is right.
