Who Did This To Goodluck Jonathan?

Who Did This To Goodluck Jonathan?

I stumbled on this on facebook and thought I should share. LWKMD.....
Good luck Jonathan walks into a bank to cash a cheque. As he approaches the cashier he says, 'Good morning Ma'am. Would you please cash this cheque for me?'
Cashier: 'It would be my pleasure, Sir. But could you please show me your ID?'

Jonathan: 'Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn't think there was any need to. [Don't you know me?] I am Jonathan, the President...'

Cashier: 'Yes sir, I know who you are. But with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of impostors and forgers and requirements of the CBN, I must insist on seeing some ID.'

Jonathan: 'Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am.'

Cashier: 'I am sorry, sir, but these are the bank rules and I must follow them.'

Jonathan: 'I am urging you, please, cash this cheque.'

Cashier: 'Sir, here is an example of what we can do. One day, Tonto Dike came into the bank to cash a cheque without her ID. To prove herself, she started singing, the guard dog fainted and the computers went off. So we knew it was her and cashed the cheque.'

'Another time, Governor Fashola came without his ID to cash a cheque. We doubted him at first but when our dispatch rider rode in on a motorbike and he screamed, 'Arrest that bike rider,' we cashed his cheque!'

'So sir, what can you do to prove that it is you and only you, as President?'

Jonathan stands there thinking and thinking, and finally says, 'Honestly, my mind is totally blank... There is nothing that comes to my mind. I can't think of a single thing. I have absolutely no idea what to do. I just don't have a clue.'

Cashier: 'Very good, Sir. It is you, alright! Now we're convinced! Do you want N500 or N1,000 notes?
- Happy Easter to you all! Lol!!

5 dangers of excess abdominal fat

by Fiora Stevens

belly fat

By now, most of us are well aware of the health risks that are associated with obesity. But did you know that excess abdominal fat in particular carries its own set of risks? A high waist-to-hip ratio, caused by visceral fat setting up shop inside your abdomen and around your organs, has been associated with these five long-term health issues.

#1 Decreased Lung Function

Last year, a team of Finnish researchers found that a large waist circumference is related to decreased lung volume and function. In comparison with other healthy, non-smoking adults who did not have excess abdominal fat, those who carried more fat performed far more poorly on spirometry (breath measurement) tests.

Over time, this decreased lung function can lead to a narrowing of the airway and ultimately chronic lung diseases like asthma.

#2 Arterial Degeneration

Another 2012 study found a significant correlation between abdominal obesity and high incidence of arthrosclerosis and arterial stiffness. The researchers studied both individuals with abdominal obesity and general obesity, as well as healthy individuals, and discovered that for every 0.1 increase in the waist to height ratio, arterial issues worsened. This tendency was particularly pronounced in people with excess abdominal fat. Arterial degeneration can lead to stroke and various forms of heart disease.

#3 Poor Blood Sugar Regulation

Visceral fat – the type of fat found in people with abdominal obesity – produces a number of hormones that can wreak havoc on your metabolic systems. These hormones can trigger changes to insulin receptors in your body, meaning that insulin starts to become less effective in helping to regulate your blood sugar. This is, of course, one of the major causes of diabetes.

#4 Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease

It turns out that what's going on in your gut can have a big effect on your brain. A 2010 study found that a high waist-to-hip ratio, as well as the presence of abdominal visceral fat in general, is linked with low brain volume. Low brain volume has in turn been linked with general dementia and may also be a contributing factor in Alzheimer's disease.

#5 High Cholesterol

Visceral fat can be turned into free fatty acids by the body, which results in the production of LDL (also known as "bad") cholesterol and triglycerides. In addition, the free fatty acids also reduce the body's level of HDL (also known as "good") cholesterol. Along with abdominal obesity's relationship with arterial degeneration, the cholesterol-related effects of excess belly fat are a perfect storm for heart disease, high blood pressure, and stroke.

Where you tend to store your fat is largely dictated by your genes, but if you have excess abdominal fat, there are ways to minimize your risk. According to the experts, exercise is the best way to get rid of that visceral fat, even more so than calorie restriction (although sticking to a healthy diet is always a good idea). Aim for half an hour to an hour of exercise most days of the week, and with determination, you should be able to shrink your belly and your chances of developing any of these long-term health problems.

Horror in Calabar: Woman burns 14-year-old maid’s buttocks with hot iron and feels justified

Horror in Calabar: Woman burns 14-year-old maid's buttocks with hot iron and feels justified

A 14- year-old house maid, Otobong Edet  John, had her buttocks seared with  hot electric iron  by her mistress, simply identified as  Ekaette, on the suspicion that she  was promiscuous.

Narrating her ordeal, Otobong said she was receiving a call on her phone when the madam operating a canteen  asked her  who was on the phone and she said it was one of her friends.  "But madam did not believe me and started beating me. So I ran and stayed somewhere with my friend",she stated.

According to her, she remained in that place until about 10p.m. when she went to sleep in a church close to their shop and the next morning "when I was about coming to the shop, a neighbour saw me discussing with a customer who was asking me where I was coming from so early in the morning  and went to tell my aunty that I spent the night with the  man". The madam, she said,  went to the police station at nearby Atimbo Road, Calabar and reported to them that the man  abducted her housemaid.

But after the police interrogated the man, they let him go and this infuriated Ekaette following which she allegedly dragged Otobong to the shop, plugged the electric iron and when it was red hot, she used the scorched parts to sear the maid's body including her buttocks and right arm. Not done yet, she allegedly put a basin of banana on the girl's head, asking her to go to town and sell even as her arm and buttocks were bleeding. "It was a customer who wanted to buy banana that saw  that my arm was bleeding and asked me what happened and, when I showed him my buttocks, he shouted and took me to the police", she said. The mistress, while  being interrogated by the police at Akim Police Division for causing bodily harm to a minor,  justified her action by saying that  Otobong  was  a  rude and wayward girl.

"When she told me it was Mary that called her, I called back that number and it was a male voice that answered and she then changed the story that she did not know what the man wanted after she had discussed with the man for over two  minutes",Ekaette said.

She said there were instances when the girl had gone  from home to stay with men even as she had repeatedly cautioned her to change her ways. "That girl you are seeing is a very wayward girl and, if I tell you her story,  you would marvel", she said.

The Public Relations Officer for the Cross River State Police Command, DSP John Umoh, said the action of Ekaette was unacceptable as it amounted to child abuse and "after investigations she would be taken to court".

How an airport driver and cleaner colluded to smuggle a drug carrier (PICTURED) on a plane – NDLEA

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Adetunji Joseph, and some airport employees, who aided him to avoid security checks at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

According to a statement by NDLEA's Head, Public Affairs, Ofoyeju Mitchell, the suspect, who ingested 100 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.350kg, wore an official tarmac reflective jacket posing as an airport employee and was illegally taken to the boarding gates at the airport by a female cleaner.

A driver with the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, Mr. Olatubosun Olatunji, was said to be the mastermind, a female cleaner, Mrs. Uzoma David, and one Mr. Ekene Uchenna were alleged to be part of the drug racket.

The NDLEA commander at the Lagos airport Mr. Hamza Umar said the incident took place on February 7, 2013 but the main culprits were arrested on Saturday.

Umar said preliminary investigation showed that Uchenna, who is currently at large, gave his reflective jacket and on-duty tag to the suspect.

3 infallible proofs that Christ rose from the dead

3 infallible proofs that Christ rose from the dead

by Dr. R. L. Hymers, Jr.

empty-tomb

"To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:3).

The earliest Jewish argument presupposes the truth of the empty tomb. In other words, there was nobody claiming that the tomb still contained the body of Jesus. The question was, "What happened to the body?"

Jesus showed Himself alive. He "presented" Himself to the Apostles (Rienecker, A Linguistic Key to the New Testament). He presented Himself "alive after his passion," that is, after He had "suffered" (Strong's Concordance). This suffering included the scourging, which stripped the skin from His back, and inflicted great gaping wounds; His crucifixion, during which His feet and hands were nailed to a cross; His agonizing death; and the piercing of His side, when a sword was driven up into His heart. But Christ rose from the dead on the third day after He was buried. And He "shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs."

The words "infallible proofs" are the English translation of the Greek word "tekmerios." It means "demonstrative proofs" (Rienecker, ibid.). "In medical language 'demonstrative evidence'" (William Hobart, The Medical Languages of St. Luke, Baker, 1954, note on Acts 1:3). Calvin said,

That the truth hereof might not be called in question, he saith that it was proved by many signs and tokens [that] I have translated proofs (John Calvin, Commentary on Acts 1:3).

Here only, in Acts 1:3, we are told that Christ was "seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:3).

If he had but once appeared unto them, it might have been somewhat suspicious, but in showing himself so often unto them, and by this means, also, he putteth away the reproach of the ignorance which he said was in the apostles, lest it discredit their preaching (ibid.).

Christ appeared to the Apostles repeatedly to make them sure of His resurrection and to strengthen their preaching.

"To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs" (Acts 1:3).

We will think about three of these "infallible proofs" of Christ's resurrection from the dead this morning.

I. First, the tomb was empty when they came to it.

The women who came to the tomb found it empty. They came with spices to embalm His body – but the tomb was empty. "A young man sitting on the right side" (Mark 16:5) said to them,

"Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him" (Mark 16:6).

The Apostles themselves found the tomb empty. Mary Magdalene ran and told Peter that the body of Christ was not there.

"Peter therefore went forth, and that other disciple [John himself], and came to the sepulchre…Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie…Then went in also that other disciple, which came first to the sepulchre, and he saw, and believed" (John 20:3-8).

Even the unbelieving Romans and Jews knew that the tomb was empty. Matthew tells us,

"Some of the watch came into the city…And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day" (Matthew 28:11-15).

Lee Strobel is the author of The Case for Christ and The Case for Faith. Strobel tells us,

The Jewish leaders proposed the ridiculous story that the guards had fallen asleep. Obviously they were grasping at straws. But the point is this: they started with the assumption that the tomb was vacant!…The earliest Jewish argument presupposes the truth of the empty tomb. In other words, there was nobody claiming that the tomb still contained the body of Jesus. The question was, "What happened to the body?" (Lee Strobel, Decision, April, 2003, p. 9).

The argument of the Jewish leaders was false for three reasons:

(1) Pilate, the Roman governor, had the tomb sealed and set Roman guards to watch it. It would have cost these guards their lives if they had gone to sleep. Roman soldiers were as hardened and nearly as well trained as Navy Seals today. It isn't possible that such men would go to sleep. Furthermore, Albert Roper points out that the Roman soldiers guarding the tomb numbered approximately twenty, and were under the leadership of a Roman centurion (cf. Josh McDowell, The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, p. 235).

(2) Even if that impossibility occurred, and a centurion and twenty Roman soldiers all went to sleep, how could these guards have remained asleep while the seal around the stone was broken and that huge stone was rolled back? It would have made a great noise as it was rolled away from the door to the tomb. Hardened, well trained Roman guards couldn't have slept through all the noise that the breaking of the seal and the rolling of the huge stone would have caused.

(3) Even if the stone had been rolled away, how would the guards know that the body was stolen – if they were asleep? They could not possibly know what happened if they were asleep! So that whole story of bribery and deceit rests on a ridiculous, trumped up lie. But that sordid plot by unbelieving Jewish leaders and Roman guards does show one thing clearly – they knew that the tomb was empty. They knew that Christ was not there.

Lee Strobel writes,

In the face of these facts, skeptics have been impotent to put Jesus' body back into the tomb. They flounder. They struggle. They contradict themselves. And they pursue extraordinary theories to try to account for the evidence, yet each time, in the end, the tomb remains vacant (ibid.).

The first "infallible proof" of the resurrection of Christ from the dead is the empty tomb. I have been to Jerusalem. My wife and I have seen the tomb of Christ. I myself can tell you – that tomb is empty!

"He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay" (Matthew 28:6).

The empty tomb is the first infallible proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

"To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:3).

II. Second, the Disciples saw Him many times after He rose from the dead.

This is the second "infallible proof" of Christ's resurrection. Christ did not appear once to the Disciples. He showed Himself to them many times for an extended period of forty days. He came to ten of the Apostles when they were gathered together in a locked room,

"Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost" (John 20:19-22).

But Thomas, one of the Disciples, was not there. When the other Disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord" (John 20:25), he did not believe them. He said,

"Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side [into the sword wound], I will not believe" (John 20:25).

Dr. John MacArthur, though wrong on the Blood of Christ and "Lordship salvation," is correct when he says, "Thomas' actions indicated that Jesus had to convince the disciples rather forcefully of His resurrection, i.e., they were not gullible people predisposed to believe in resurrection. The point is that they would not have fabricated it or hallucinated it, since they were so reluctant to believe even with the evidence they could see" (MacArthur Study Bible, note on John 20:24-26).

"And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you. Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold [look at] my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God" (John 20:26-28).

When Thomas said, "My Lord and my God" he was convinced at last that Christ had risen physically from the dead!

We should remember that Jesus had said something quite similar to what He told Thomas to the ten Disciples a week earlier. When He came to them, they were frightened,

"But they were terrified and affrighted [when they first saw Him], and supposed that they had seen a spirit. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat [food]? And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them" (Luke 24:37-43).

This account clearly tells us that Jesus did not rise as a spirit. The Jehovah's Witnesses are wrong when they say that. No, His real "flesh and bone" body rose from the dead. It was the same body that was missing from the tomb. They could see the wounds from the nails in His hands and feet. They could see the sword-wound in His side. And Jesus said to them,

"Handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have" (Luke 24:39).

This was proof-positive that Christ's own body had risen from the dead!

"To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:3).

The Apostle Paul gives us a list of people who saw Jesus after He rose from the dead,

"He rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And… was seen of Cephas [another name of Peter], then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep [had by this time died]. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also" (I Corinthians 15:4-8).

Dr. Henry M. Morris is the President of the Institute for Creation Research. He is a scientist who holds a Ph.D. in hydrology from the University of Minnesota. Concerning the list of eye-witnesses recorded in I Corinthians 15:4-8, Dr. Morris says this:

The remarkable parade of eye-witnesses of the resurrection of Christ (most of whom were still living when Paul wrote and could have denied the [account] if it were not true) is part of the overwhelming body of evidence ("many infallible proofs" – Acts 1:3) that makes this the greatest event in history since the creation and the most certain fact of biblical history. Jesus Christ has, indeed, conquered death itself, thereby demonstrating that He was the Creator of life and the only possible Savior from sin and death (Henry M. Morris, Ph.D., The Defender's Study Bible, note on I Corinthians 15:6).

"To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God" (Acts 1:3).

The Disciples, and hundreds of other people, saw Him many times after He rose from the dead. This is the second infallible proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

III. Third, the Disciples were willing to die rather than deny Christ's resurrection.

To me, this is the greatest proof of all that Jesus rose from the dead. These people lived out the rest of their lives proclaiming that Christ had risen – and that they saw Him alive. I Corinthians 15:5-8 tells us

"He was seen of Cephas [Peter]" (v. 5).

"He was seen of above five hundred brethren" (v. 6).

"He was seen of James; then of all the apostles" (v. 7).

"He was seen of me also" (v. 8).

They said they saw Him, and they suffered torture and martyrdom rather than deny it!

John Ankerberg and John Weldon asked this question,

Could the Christian Church ever have come into existence as a result of what had become, after Jesus' crucifixion and death, a group of disheartened, frightened, skeptical apostles? Not a chance. Only the resurrection of Christ from the dead can account for motivating the disciples to give their lives to preach about Christ (John Ankerberg and John Weldon, Ready With an Answer, Harvest House, 1997, p. 82).

John R. W. Stott says, "…the transformation of the disciples of Jesus is the greatest evidence of all for the resurrection" (John R. W. Stott, Basic Christianity, second edition, InterVarsity Press, 1971, pp. 58-59).

Simon Greenleaf, a Harvard attorney, said this concerning the apostles, "It was…impossible that they should have persisted in affirming the truths they have narrated, had not Jesus actually risen from the dead, and had they not known this fact as certainly as they knew any other fact. The annals of military warfare afford scarcely an example of [similar] heroic constancy, patience, and unflinching courage" (Simon Greenleaf, The Testimony of the Evangelists, Examined by the Rules of Evidence Administered in Courts of Justice, Baker, 1965 reprint of the 1847 edition, p. 29).

Josh McDowell said,

Just as Jesus Christ transformed the lives of His disciples, so the lives of men and women throughout the past nineteen hundred years have also been transformed (Josh McDowell, The New Evidence That Demands a Verdict, p. 253).

When your sins are forgiven, and your life is transformed by Christ, this is the most infallible proof of all – that He has risen from the dead!

Jesus Christ died on the Cross to pay the penalty for your sins. He rose from the dead, and ascended into the third Heaven, where He is now seated at the right hand of God. You can come to Jesus and trust Him. If you do that, He will wash your sins away with His Blood, and give you eternal life. Then come on home to church! Why be lonely? Come home – to church!

Does Your Marriage Come Before God's Calling?

Does Your Marriage Come Before God's Calling?

In the last two generations of church teaching regarding marriage roles we have been told that marriage and family come first. This mind-set has led us to assume a theology that puts marriage and family members before God.

Unfortunately, when marriage is the primary relational focus rather than relationship with and obedience to God, it becomes subject to the will and weakness of its partners. The consequences are often unfruitful for home and heaven.

Marriage has a heavenly ordination that goes beyond family bliss. It is a tool for spouses to more completely fulfill God's destiny in their lives. But it is second to service to God. There is nothing in Scripture to suggest that a person should deny his heavenly call because his earthly partner doesn't recognize it--or abandon it because there is discord between them.

Misunderstanding about the role of marriage in the church can shipwreck sincere Christians when trouble develops with their spouses. Our traditions have subtly built an altar that makes married domestic tranquility the spiritual qualifier of Christians. In some cases it is a prerequisite for individuals, particularly women, to be received in ministry settings.

These traditions help to misplace single and divorced persons, particularly women, in the church. They also disable believers who are experiencing dissension at home.

This is not the teaching of Jesus or the apostles. Marital tranquility is not a prerequisite for anointing!

Perhaps the greatest error of the religious philosophy of marriage first is that it emphasizes marriage over the greatest commandment: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'" (Matt. 22:37, NIV). If this commandment is in place in the life of a believer all other issues find their proper importance.

The second commandment prescribes what to do with your marriage: "'Love your neighbor [spouse] as yourself" (Matt. 22:39). If these two guidelines are in order in your life you will understand how to conduct yourself even when you are experiencing marital discord.

Ideally, marriage should facilitate obedience to the call of God in the lives of both spouses. Unfortunately, this is not always the way it works. There are many examples throughout Christian history of anointed servants of God whose matrimonial state was less than perfect. Yet they successfully gave themselves to God's service in obedience. We can learn from their examples.

DISCORD IN MARRIAGE

Marital discord arises in the life of every union. From Adam and Eve down through the patriarchs and into our time, it comes with the territory. Remember how Sarah pestered Abraham to give her a child, finally insisting that he lie with her maidservant? Then when Hagar conceived Ishmael, Sarah had the nerve to blame Abraham! (See Gen. 16:1-5.)

In the time of Deborah and Barak, a housewife named Jael acted in direct violation of her husband's political obligations. She killed a king who had a covenant of peace with her household (see Judg. 4:17-22). Imagine the music she had to face when her spouse got home!

David's wife Abigail resisted the spirit and instruction of her first husband, Nabal, when she went behind his back to bring supplies for David and his men from Nabal's storehouse. Abigail's act of wisdom and faith made intercession for her household and saved them from oblivion by David's army. But that same intercession so offended Nabal that he had a heart attack when she confessed what she had done (see 1 Sam. 25:1-38).

Perhaps the clearest picture of continuing to serve God with a whole heart in the midst of trouble at home is the one Scripture gives us of David when he brought the ark back to Jerusalem (see 2 Sam. 6:12-15). He was directly in the center of obedience to God's will for his life. But his wife Michal berated him (v. 20).

Michal's resistance did not deter her husband. David replied, "I will become even more undignified than this" (v.22). If his godly service on that occasion displeased her, she was in for a lifetime of offense. The king would please God first.

In truth, the Bible does not make a person's marriage the plumb line of his relationship or anointing with God. Our traditions have done that.

Consider the example of Maria Woodworth-Etter, an anointed woman of God who helped usher America into Pentecost. A powerful preacher, Maria was used mightily in miraculous signs and healing in the late 1800s and early 1900s. But she was opposed at home as well as by the norms of society in her day.

In Maria Woodworth-Etter: Her Life and Ministry (Christ for the Nations Inc., 1992) Maria wrote, "When the Spirit of God was striving with me to talk or pray in a meeting, I would resist as long as I could. Then this awful vision would rise before me, and I would see souls sinking into eternal woe. The voice of Jesus would whisper, 'I am with you; be not afraid.'

"Then I would be on my feet or knees in a moment. I would forget everything but the love of God and dying souls. God seemed to speak through me to the people.

"But I had so much opposition to contend with. My people were opposed; my husband and my daughter fought against it; and my whole being shrank from going to stand as a gazing stock for the people. But the Lord was showing in many ways that I must go and perform the work He had for me to do."

MIXING MARRIAGE AND MINISTRY

The devil's strategy is to hit marriages in order to spiritually immobilize married persons. If he can accomplish this in enough cases, he can effectively slow the advance of the kingdom of God in a generation.

Likewise, if Satan can deceive enough households with the "marriage first" theology, he can keep Christians so focused on home that they are AWOL from participation on the front lines of evangelism and church service.

What should you do if your ministry is being blessed by heaven and your marriage is buffeted by hell?

1. First, recognize that your spiritual effectiveness may be one reason the devil is hitting you at home. Do not assume that you are to stop serving God in order to focus all your energies at home. That is, not unless God says so!

If He tells you to do this and you continue to give your full attention to ministry activity, then your ministry has become an idol--and an excuse for disobeying God. Remember that on Judgement Day Jesus will say to Christians who spent their lives in ministry as an excuse for serving their own agendas, "Although you prophesied and worked miracles in My Name, now depart from Me you lawless ones. I never knew you!" (See Matt. 7:21-23.)

2. Seek God's solutions to the weaknesses in your marriage and begin to strengthen it without taking your focus away from full devotion to God. Don't give territory to the devil by retreating to hearth and home simply because you have conflict there.

3. Throw yourself, your spouse and your marriage on the Lord. Seek and receive His specific personal instruction for your situation and season. Sometimes this comes as daily and hourly instruction until God brings you through into His peace and blessing. Once you have His direction, obey--whatever the cost.

The virtuous wife of Proverbs 31 fulfills the full purpose of God and provides for her family at the same time by active engagement of her spiritual and creative gifts in the marketplace. She delegates her responsibilities within the house while she is away and neglects neither her home nor her calling.

Man or woman, it takes a person wholly devoted to God to find the proper balance between marriage and ministry. For each one of us there will be a different equation. That is why it is so important to be led by the Holy Spirit in responding to God's call and following His lead in living it out.

The important thing to remember is that each one of us will answer to God--and no one else--for our lives and how we spent them. We will not answer to our spouses, our children, our pastor or our employer. In marriage as in single life we must individually work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

God will accept no excuses. He will not release you from accountability because your spouse didn't want you to follow the call, your pastor didn't think a woman should preach or your children complained that you were never around. He will judge you based on whether or not you did what He asked you to do.

MINISTERING IN CONFLICT

Ministry in the midst of marital discord is not ideal--but it is not necessarily devoid of anointing. And it is certainly not an excuse for disobedience to heaven's call. Your marriage was never ordained by God to be a hindrance to your service or obedience to Him.

As ministers, my husband, Mahesh, and I have daily opportunities to experience the strain that ministry can place on marriage. Particularly during times when we are bringing the gospel to strategic regions we face tremendous spiritual resistance that usually results in pressure on the home front. Our personal compatibility and communication can easily become stressed to the breaking point.

The devil uses our weaknesses to try and turn us against one another or drive one of us into isolation. He knows that division between us is strength for him.

In the early days it would never fail that our weaknesses came to a head just as we were leaving for church. Once we were at the front door on the way to an important church meeting and dinner fellowship. Mahesh was carrying a huge dessert we were taking. I was rushing around tying up all the loose ends I had to handle while he waited--impatiently.

The day had been littered with lots of little foxes. As pressures grew, tempers shortened. When Mahesh reached for the door handle I made a resentful remark. It was the last straw for both of us.

He dropped the dessert, on purpose, on the floor. He wasn't counting on its bouncing back! But bounce it did: everywhere. I watched, angry and horrified, as red Jell-O, whipped cream and other ingredients splattered the ceiling, walls, floor and front door.

What did we do? We left the mess and went to the meeting, sans dessert but with hearts sure for God. For months afterward I found little dried spots of red Jell-O in all the crooks and crevices of our home. Each one was a reminder of the devil's strategy to get us to back down from the war against his kingdom by starting a war at home. Satan's biggest tactic against married persons is to put pressure on them in an effort to make them retreat from active spiritual service.

Our experience has showed us that the two most effective tools for handling ministry in the midst of marital discord are: (1) commitment to God and His kingdom first; and (2) a sense of humor. Sincere commitment to God ultimately brings clarity in our personal circumstances, and a sense of humor helps us to hope, bear and believe all things (see 1 Cor. 13:7). Both these tools help us to fulfill the two greatest commandments in proper order: love God and love your neighbor.

Love says to take precautions in relating to one's spouse. As much as possible try to sidestep the areas you know will cause him to stumble or to become angry or anxious, even if you have an opportunity to make a point regarding an issue in his life. Maintain control over your own spirit, keep a guard on your tongue and refuse to indulge in self-pity or self-importance.

The key to spiritual success in marriage is realizing that each one is as unique in the plan of God as the partners themselves are unique among human beings. For this reason there must be not two, but three persons in agreement within each marriage: the husband, the wife and the Holy Spirit.

A marriage is not an organization; it is an organism, a living union no less than a person or a tree. When one or both partners demand that it become the tool to service their own comfort, convenience or demands, shipwreck is inevitable.

On the other hand, the husband or wife who uses religious or ministry business as an excuse to neglect loving service to his or her family is in danger of being in disobedience to the voice of the Holy Spirit as well. Balance and personal obedience to God are the plumb line.

Just as you must work out your own salvation in fear and trembling, you must work out your marriage before God and His Word. The bottom line is: Love the Lord first, love your neighbor (who is also your spouse) second. Love seeks not its own, including its own spiritual agendas or carnal comforts. Love seeks to do the heart and will of God.

A diet high in lean and low-fat sources of protein is thought by many to be one of the most effective ways to slim down. These healthy proteins maintain lean tissue while burning fat for fuel and curbing your appetite.

Are you looking to lose weight the healthy way? So many people turn to crazy fad diets to shed the pounds. Not only are those diets proven to be ineffective but they can also be very dangerous to your health. Losing weight is simple: exercise regularly and eat a healthy, high protein diet.

A diet high in lean and low-fat sources of protein is thought by many to be one of the most effective ways to slim down. These healthy proteins maintain lean tissue while burning fat for fuel and curbing your appetite. In short, eating a high protein diet will make working out more effective and eating healthy easy.

There are a few things every individual should know before starting to boost their protein intake. First, the recommended daily allowance for men is 56 grams per day and 46 grams per day for women. Second, the types of protein you incorporate in  your diet will have a huge impact on your weight loss. You want to add lots of lean, low-fat sources of protein.

Below, you will find a list of 15 foods proven to be good sources of protein, as indicated by the US Department of Agriculture. Each food will have an amount associated with it and the number of grams of protein per item to help you control how much you're eating.

Here are 15 Protein Power Foods for Healthy Living:

 1. Lean Meat, Fish, Poultry

Amount: 1 Ounce = 7 Grams of Protein

Incorporating lean meats, fish and poultry (lean chicken, salmon, tuna etc) into your daily diet will give you a huge boost of healthy protein. An average chicken breast or salmon fillet can range from 4 ounces to 8 ounces, depending on the size. Many individuals turning to high protein diets significantly increase their intake of lean chicken breasts and fish because they boast so many other health benefits as well. Stay away from breaded or fried chicken or fish for best results.

2. Eggs

1 Large Egg = 6 Grams of Protein

Eating one or two eggs a day is a great way to add healthy protein to your diet. If you don't have time to make eggs before work or school, hard boil 5-10 at the beginning of the week and you can easily just grab them and go in the morning. If you don't like the taste of eggs, whip one or two into a morning smoothie and you won't be able to taste them at all.

3. Milk

1 Ounce = 1 Gram of Protein

Drinking a glass of milk a day (an 8-ounce glass of milk contains approximately 8 grams of protein) will give your body the boost of protein as well as calcium, which is good for your bones. If you don't like drinking milk on it's own consider making a fruit smoothie or eating a bowl of cereal to get the nutrients your body needs.

4. Low-Fat Yogurt

4 Ounces = 6 Grams of Protein

An average, on-the-go container of yogurt is about 6 ounces. Eating 1-2 portions of low-fat yogurt  each day is a healthy and delicious way to up your protein intake in a healthy way. The key is making sure the yogurt is low-fat.

5. Cheese

1 Ounce = 7 Grams of Protein

Cheese is a huge source of healthy protein. Enjoying a few slices of cheese everyday will increase your protein intake significantly. To put things into perspective, 1 ounce of cheese will give you the same amount of protein as 1 ounce of chicken.

6. Cooked Kidney Beans

1/2 Cup = 7 Grams of Protein

One half-cup of cooked kidney beans will give you the same amount of protein as an ounce of cheese or lean chicken. If you're looking to add more variety to your diet while keeping your intake of healthy protein high, consider adding a small cup of kidney beans to your lunch or dinner a few days a week.

7. Low-Fat Cottage Cheese

1/2 Cup = 14 Grams of Protein

Low-fat cottage cheese ranks number one on this list for the highest amount of protein per serving. A half-cup of cottage cheese will provide your body with 14 grams of protein to help you lose weight and stay healthy. Again, the key is making sure you purchase the low-fat products.

8. Lentils

1/2 Cup = 9 Grams of Protein

There are several types of lentils to choose from, for those of you looking to add this protein super food to your diet. Lentils are sold in many colors, shapes and forms (with skin/without skin etc) and are often found in many Mediterranean diets.

9. Nuts

1 Ounce = 7 Grams of Protein

Eating a handful of nuts instead of chips or chocolate for your afternoon snack will go a long way in adding a boost of protein to your diet. If you don't like eating nuts on their own, consider adding walnuts or almonds to a salad to mask the taste but reap the health benefits.

10. Vegetables

1/2 Cup = 2 Grams of Protein

Many people wonder how much protein is in vegetables – and the answer varies depending on each type. An average half-cup of vegetables contains just 2 grams of protein, however, choosing high protein veggies like spinach, chickpeas or broccoli can increase that amount to up to 6 grams per serving. If you're looking to get more protein from your vegetables, choosing the right ones and eating larger portions should do the trick.

11. Peanut Butter

2 Tablespoons = 8 Grams of Protein

Eating peanut butter is perhaps the easiest (and most delicious) way to up the amount of healthy protein in your diet.. You can add peanut butter to so many things (wraps, sandwiches, vegetables etc) but for those of you with little time to prepare healthy meals, simply consuming to spoonfuls of this delicious spread straight from the spoon will give you a whopping 16 ounces of healthy protein for the day.

Imo deputy governor, Jude Agbaso impeached for financial fraud

Imo-State-Deputy-Governor-Jude-Agbaso-

The State House of Assembly has sacked Imo State Deputy Governor, Jude Agbaso after a seven-man panel headed by Justice G.C Ihekire, concluded its investigation of financial fraud.

Agbaso was accused of allegedly taking N458m bribe from a Lebanese firm, J-PROS, om charge of the rehabilitation of the Sam Mbakwe Road in Owerri, the state capital. Agbaso was removed from office on Thursday after 26 out of 27 lawmakers voted for his impeachment.

The panel was set up on Tuesday and had its first sitting on Thursday, same day that Agbaso was impeached.

Head of the family and a chief of the All Progressive Grand Alliance in Imo State, Martin Agbaso, said:

"Being head of Agbaso family, my primary concern became to show to the world; to prove to the world that my brother is innocent and clear my good name.

"It is of primary importance to me to make sure that our family is duly cleared of all the accusations. So I quickly hired a team of forensic experts to please get into this matter."

According to reports, the head of the family said experts findings  faulted allegations that his brother was the owner of the two accounts into which the bribe was allegedly paid.

The Punch reports:

Majority Leader, Ihuoma Eke, representing Ahiazu Mbaise, moved the motion for the impeachment of Agbaso while the member representing Aboh Mbaise, Mrs.Pat Ekeji supported the motion.

Immediately after impeaching the deputy governor, Uwajumogu read out a letter sent to the House for the appointment of the Chief of Staff, Mr. Eze Madurmere, as the new deputy governor.

After reading the report, members adjourned and went into executive session for the consideration of the letter from Governor Rochas Okorocha.

The removed deputy had failed to stop the house from impeaching him when the case he instituted at the Owerri High Court was dismissed for lack of competence on the side of the court.

Agbaso also refused to appear before the seven-man panel set up by the state Assembly. Instead, he sent a protest letter condemning the composition and inauguration of its membership.

Meanwhile, Agbaso's family said findings of the independent forensic experts it privately engaged had vindicated the businessman-turned politician of the N458m bribery allegation.

Insisting that his younger brother was innocent, the APGA chief added that bribe-taking was "uncharacteristic of the Agbasos".

The contractor, J-Pros International Nigeria Ltd, through its Managing Director, Joseph Dina, had alleged that the deputy governor demanded N458m bribe which he claimed he eventually paid into two accounts supplied by the impeached deputy governor.

Rather Agbaso's brother said the alleged bribe was traced to the contractor's accounts domiciled in Dubai and Lebanon

He said the money was initially paid into the accounts of bureau de change firms with Guaranty Trust Bank and United Bank of Africa.

According to him, the deputy governor or any member of Agbaso family has no link with the companies into which the alleged bribe was said to have been initially paid.

He added that the deputy governor's call log obtained from MTN also showed that there was no voice or SMS conversation on the phone between with his brother as alleged by the contractor.

He said the money was not only found to have ended in JPros' accounts in Lebanon and Dubai, but that documents obtained from the Corporate Affairs Commission revealed that an aide of the state governor was found to have bought into the shares of the company in June 2012.

Agbaso said, "Now we traced the money the N458m bribe money that was said to have been given to my brother. The accounts are domiciled in Lebanon and Dubai and the owner of these accounts is no other person but JPros and Joseph Dina, the man who accused the Deputy Governor of receiving bribe. The money has been traced into his accounts in Lebanon and in Dubai.

"The company (JPros) is owned by four principal persons, the first owner is Joseph Dina, the second person is Aline Dina, the third person is Jean Samir Aoun and the firth person is Prince Macdonald Akano, who is the governor's SA on Projects and the Chairman, Contract Implementation Task Force in Imo State."

Pope Francis washes feet of young female Muslim prisoner in unprecedented twist on Easter rite (SNAPSHOT)

Pope-Feet-2_2522628c

Pope Francis kisses feet of prison inmate

While popes have for centuries washed the feet of the faithful on the day before Good Friday, never before had a pontiff washed the feet of a woman. That one of the female inmates at the prison in Rome was also a Serbian Muslim was also a break with tradition.

"There is no better way to show his service for the smallest, for the least fortunate," said Gaetano Greco, a local chaplain.

Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 inmates aged 14 to 21, among them the two women, the second of whom was an Italian Catholic. Mr Greco said he hoped the ritual would be "a positive sign in their lives".

Catholic traditionalists are likely to be riled by the inclusion of women in the ceremony because of the belief that all of Jesus' disciples were male.

The pontiff, who has largely disregarded protocol since his election earlier this month, urged his fellow clerics before the ceremony to prioritise the poor.

"We need to go out to the outskirts where there is suffering, bloodshed, blindness that longs for sight, and prisoners in thrall to many evil masters," he said at a mass in St Peter's Basilica.

"It is not in soul-searching or constant introspection that we encounter the Lord."

Francis, the first leader of the Catholic Church from Latin America, led a mass with a mixed group of young offenders at the Casal del Marmo prison outside of Rome.

The 76-year-old, who was archbishop of Buenos Aires until chosen as pope, has already made a name for himself as a champion of the disadvantaged. In his homeland of Argentina he was known for his strong social advocacy, working in slums and shunning the lavish lifestyle adopted by some senior clerics. He lived in a small flat near the cathedral, flew to the Rome conclave in economy class, and chose to travel with his fellow cardinals by minibus rather than in the papal limousine.

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio – as Pope Francis was previously known – had already washed and kissed the feet of women in past ceremonies in Argentinian jails, hospitals and old people's homes, including pregnant mothers and AIDS patients.

Before performing the traditional feet washing, in his first general audience on Wednesday, Francis called on the world's 1.2 billion Catholics to reach out to "lost sheep" over the coming days.

"Holy Week challenges us to step outside ourselves so as to attend to the needs of others: those who long for a sympathetic ear, those in need of comfort or help," Francis told thousands of faithful gathered in St Peter's Square.

On Good Friday, Francis will recite the Passion of Christ – the story of the last hours of Jesus's life – in St Peter's Basilica, before presiding over the Via Crucis ceremony by the Colosseum, where thousands of Christians are believed to have been martyred in Roman times.

While last year his predecessor, 85-year-old Pope Benedict, presided over celebrations from under a canopy next to the Colosseum, Francis is expected to take part in the procession and even carry the wooden cross on his shoulder for part of the way.

On Saturday, the pontiff will take part in an evening Easter vigil in St Peter's Basilica, and on Easter Sunday the he will celebrate Easter mass in front of tens of thousands of pilgrims in St Peter's Square and then pronounce the traditional "Urbi et Orbi" blessing to Rome and the world.

Also on Thursday, the Pope made his first appointment of a bishop, naming Mario Poli, 66, to succeed him as archbishop of Buenos Aires and the top churchman in Argentina.

Francis also put his first people on the path to sainthood, unveiling a list of 63 people including victims of the Spanish Civil War, Nazism and Communism. The largest number are considered martyrs of faith killed during the 1931-45 conflict in Spain.

5 surprising ways you could be damaging your kidneys

5 surprising ways you could be damaging your kidneys

by Leslie Spry

Sugar_cubes

If you spend most evenings planted on the couch, chips in one hand and the remote in the other, you probably know you're not winning the healthy living award. While some habits are commonly accepted as unhealthy, there are other everyday behaviors that don't seem harmful but in actuality may be damaging your body. Could you be harming your kidneys without realizing it?

March is National Kidney Month, and there isn't a better time to learn more about these vital organs. Your kidneys keep the body healthy by regulating blood pressure and filtering out toxins and extra fluid from your blood. Damage to the kidneys is often irreversible, so in honor of National Kidney Month, find out the five surprising ways that you could be damaging your kidneys.

    1. Using painkillers for a long duration of time. Long-term use of certain pain medications, especially at high doses, has a harmful effect on kidney tissue and structures. Both over-the-counter and prescription pain medications can damage and reduce blood flow to the kidneys. Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) are a main culprit. As many as 1 to 3 percent of new cases of chronic kidney failure each year may be caused by pain medication overuse.

 9162214-set-of-refreshing-soda-drinks-in-metal-cans

    1. Smoking cigarettes. The ramifications of smoking on the lungs and heart are well-publicized, but studies also show that people who smoke are more likely to have protein in the urine, which is a sign of kidney damage. Diseases that affect the kidneys, such as diabetes and high blood pressure, are also exacerbated by smoking, and smokers are more likely to need dialysis or kidney transplants.
    1. Eating and drinking lots of sugar. It's probably pretty obvious that your morning doughnut and the candy bowl on your desk are overloaded with sugar, but sugar can be hiding in some surprising places. For example, it can lurk in your sandwich bread and even your salad dressing. Too much sugar can lead to health problems such as diabetes and obesity, both risk factors for kidney disease. Eliminating sugar from your diet or reducing your sugar intake can reduce your risk for diabetes, obesity and kidney disease. If you cut back on the processed sugars, you're also likely to lose calories, chemicals and sodium. Your waistline and your kidneys will thank you.
    1. Exposure to contrast dyes commonly used in imaging. It's important to make sure your physicians check your kidney function before you undergo any radiology procedures, such as CT scans, certain X-rays and angiograms. The dyes they must inject into your body to complete these tests can cause serious kidney problems, including Acute Kidney Injury or AKI. AKI results in an abrupt decrease in kidney function and occurs in up to 20 percent of all hospitalized patients and over 45 percent of patients in a critical care setting. Discuss any concerns you may have with your doctor before undergoing a procedure.
  1. Consuming high-sodium foods. Large quantities of sodium can increase blood pressure levels. High blood pressure damages the kidneys over time and is a leading cause of kidney failure. The typical American diet has been estimated to contain about 3,300 mg of sodium per day, a figure substantially higher than the 2,300 mg daily maximum (about a teaspoon of salt) recommended by the government for healthy adults. The figure drops to 1,500 mg each day for those with health conditions such as high blood pressure or kidney disease. Start by cutting back on processed foods and resisting the urge to pick up the salt shaker. Another way to lower your dietary salt intake is by following the DASH Diet. DASH is an acronym for the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. A high salt intake coupled with obesity is a recipe for disaster. This combination is particularly potent at speeding the complications of high blood pressure, heart disease and kidney disease.

How do you plan to cut down on the ways you could be damaging your kidneys?

iPad typing tips: how to get quick caps, rapid numbers, and instant apostrophes

ipad_keyboard_quote_apostrophe

Looking for some tips on how to get quicker caps, more rapid numbers, and instant apostrophes (or single quotes) on your iPad? Well, Apple being Apple they built them right into the iPad keyboard -- even as they left them for us to discover on our own. Many of these are the same as on the iPhone and iPod touch, one is all new and quite nifty. Here are a few of our favorite iPad typing tips:

  • If you fast access to accented characters, for example [é], just tap and hold the base character you want and the accented variations will pop up for easy entry. This also works on specialized keyboards, for example you can press and hold [.com] to get [.net] [.org] etc.
  • To get quicker caps, instead of tapping shift and then the letter, just touch shift and then drag you finger to the letter and release. The closer the letter is to the shift key, the faster it is.
  • Rapid numbers work the same way. Just touch the number key [.?123], slide up to the number or punctuation/symbol character you want, and let go. It's great if you just want a single number or character in between typing a lot of letters. (If you want to type a series of numbers you're still better off tapping the number key, then typing your numbers, then tapping the letters key [ABC] to go back to the alphabet.
  • At first glance it looks like Apple forgot the apostrophe/single quote ['] on the first level of the iPad keyboard. You don't have to hit the number key to get it, however. Just touch the [!,] key and hold for a second, and the ['] magically appears above it. Tap for your apostrophe, or to combine these tips, just touch [!,] and swipe up and boom, instant apostrophe.

Try them out and let us know how the work for you, and if you have any iPad typing tips of your own to share, leave them in the comments and we'll update!

See Why You Must Resist The Temptation Of Getting Rich

See Why You Must Resist The Temptation Of Getting Rich

Programmer and ardent blogger Dave Ozoalor has recently posted a controversial article on his page (at www.braintem.com ) that is currently going viral and getting lots of responses. Here is the article below.

Read this before you get very rich or very famous:
So you really want to get very rich and famous? Its good though, but I think it's over hyped. People rarely talk about the downside of it all. I would be listing the downsides of getting rich that I think you should consider before you move on to be wealthy – if you would still want to after this article.

Getting very rich will get you some great stuffs like:
1. Holidays
2. Travels
3. Private Jet
4. Mansion
5. Funding for your passion
6. Gold teeth
7. Tattoos all over your body
8. Good health care
9. Great Outfit
10. Respect

Feel free to substitute your own desires and illusions. Personally, I'd love to buy a growing third world country and sell it when it becomes a first world country!

Now let's get down to the pros and cons; having a lot of money has a number of disadvantages especially if you didn't pass through poverty, struggle and suffering to get it. If your wealth came over night, like inheriting the wealth of a dead loved one, then the drawbacks am about to list will be more pronounced in your life:

1. Die young: We've seen curt cobain shoot himself, Whitney Houston take drugs until she drowned in a bathub, Michael Jackson, Private Jet Plane crashes etc. Only the rich can afford to be taking such heavily expensive hard drugs that could trigger depression and in turn suicide when they are not taken. Only the rich ride in private jets, if it crashes like we've sometimes seen, only the rich die. We watched Dagrin get drunk in a night club and attempt to drive himself back home late at night in his new car, you know the end of the story – he crashed and died. If he wasn't rich, he wouldn't be driving a car in the first place. Let alone driving home late at night, drunk.

2. Loss of Peace: Money may take away your peace. You are always after who wants to cheat you in business and who isn't. You have armed body guard around you and around your house always. This is even more frustrating for your children. As they cant mix freely with other children and can't tell why. They could get kidnapped.

If you aren't stingingly rich, your neighbors won't be a threat to your life. They don't have to.

1. End of your goals and ambitions: Children born into money and people who got so rich along the way see with their own eyes as their dreams disappear. This leaves them no purpose to live for. No joy of struggle and victory which is inherent in humans. This lack may cause our next point.

2. Imbecility/Stupidity/Low IQ/Madness: Have you ever heard about crazy things super rich people do? Buying a yatch for as much as $20m . Would they abandon their house and live in a boat? What does it make them? Columbus J . No dreams, so children of super rich people find themselves doing crazy things like drawing tattoos all over their body, looking for trouble everywhere and so on, developing stupid phobia that was never there.

3. Being Judged unfairly: Most poor people think all rich people cheated them. You are in this category so when something bad happens to you, be ready to have sadists in their millions. Most People are tempted to think you are "lucky" or that your money fell from the skies. Or that you owe it to humanity to help them since you now have more money than them.

4. Someone is richer than you: La la la la, it never ends, you will always see someone richer than you. It's a fault you'll never be able to fix.

5. You'll never get that awesome feeling of being in want and struggle, then finally getting the solution that what you desire. It's a fulfilling desire you'll never ever get again, except you kill yourself and start all over again! Which is what many do.

6. Suicide: everything becomes boring so you are tempted most of the times to kill yourself out of depression or loneliness of living in a large well fortified lonely mansion with no neighbours.

7. Lack of true friends: all you ever get is business partners and false friends who love you for your money. No real friends again.

8. Confusion: buy a new house, sell it, buy another, crumble it, build another. Live a little while there, then sell it and start all over again in another state J You are forever confused because you can do almost anything you want, the opportunity cost does not mean anything to you again

9. Dreams and night mares

But don't get it twisted people; getting wealthy the right way and time is priceless, don't trade it for anything! Yes, yes I know and have said money is not everything, but somehow it feels better crying in a private jet than on a bicycle :O

My Sad Experience in the Hands of My Kidnappers –– NTA Female Journalist

My Sad Experience in the Hands of My Kidnappers –– NTA Female Journalist

Mrs. Olubunmi Oke, Akure-based reporter of Nigerian Television Authority, in this interview with Sunday Aborisade of the Punch, narrates her ordeal in the den of her kidnappers.

Can you recollect events that led to your kidnapping?
I noticed a car following me at a high speed when I drove out of my office, moments after I closed for the day. I increased the speed at which I was driving and I rolled up my car window.

Very close to Jojein Hotel on Oba-Ile Road, the road was very bad. So I had to slow down to manoeuvre through the potholes. It was at that point that they levelled up with me and blocked the car.

What happened after that?
I asked them what my offence was. I even offered them my car keys but three of them armed with guns dragged me out of my car and into their own car. One of them got into my car and drove behind us.

Did you see where they were taking you to?
They drove through Owode to FUTA and to Ondo. They told me they were taking me to Delta State but when we got to Ore, they covered my eyes. They blindfolded me from Thursday night till Saturday night when I was released. So it was impossible for me to know where I was.

We learnt that your house girl and your six-month-old baby were with you in the car?
My housemaid and baby were in the car with me initially. They (Kidnappers) dropped them on the road before driving my car away. They later got home in a public transport. I learnt they later abandoned my car at Igbara-Oke.

Where is the car now?
At the moment, the car is with the police, in Anti Robbery Squad section. When I was released on Saturday, they gave me my car keys. I hope to get the car during the week.

Did you suspect anyone as being responsible for your ordeal?
No. Nobody sent them to me. It was a case of random kidnapping. I just walked into their hands. I don't think anyone sent them to me because they were asking me a series of questions, 'Where do you work?' 'Who are you?'

What led to your kidnap?
I think the car I was driving coupled with the way I was dressed (I read news that evening; so I still had my clothes and jewellery on), made them think I was a good catch.

How will you describe your experience in their hands?
My experience in their hands was not palatable. For days, I could only drink water.

How much did your family pay before they released you?
The State Security Service took charge of the situation; the SARS and God's intervention were also there. So, we did not pay. Also, the fact that they got to know that I was a journalist and that the news was everywhere hastened my release.

Bayelsa govt owns terrorists’ Lagos hideout, says monarch

Bayelsa govt owns terrorists' Lagos hideout, says monarch

The house where security operatives arrested nine suspected terrorists, including a Chadian, in Ijora-Badia, a Lagos mainland suburb, belongs to Bayelsa State government, a monarch claimed.

Yesterday Ojora of Ijora, Oba Fatai Oyeyinka Aromire, in whose domain soldiers attached to Lagos internal security outfit – Operation-MESA, arrested the suspects accused the government of Bayelsa State of complicity in the presence of terrorist suspects in Nigeria's economic hub.

Oba Aromire blamed the government for abandoning the property, a development he said encouraged miscreants to use it as a hideout.

He said all the efforts made in the past by him and security agencies to get the Bayelsa government to either demolish the building or lease it out, considering the dangers of leaving it empty, yielded no result.

There were no comments from the Bayelsa government whose official promised "to get back to" The Nation.

The royal father, who frowned at the discovery of ammunition, including two AK47 rifles in his community, said it was God who saved the state from the suspected terrorists.

The Ojora spoke during a courtesy visit of Hausa leaders, led by the Chairman of the Council of Arewa Chiefs in Lagos, Alhaji Kabiru Garuba, to his palace.

He alleged that the attack being planned by the suspects was meant to cause mayhem the Centre of Excellence. He warned the Hausa leaders to reign in their men.

According to him, the suspects were living under the umbrella of the Hausa people, who have been residing in the area for many years without crisis.

Oba Aromire urged the Hausa leaders to evict anti-social elements in their midst to avoid the wrath of the law.

His words: "Discovery of such factory in Ijora was very sad to me and the entire family of Ojora. It was God that saved the whole Lagos because the attack was meant to destroy the state as a whole and not Ijora alone.

"But let me state here clearly that you should warn your men very well. Lagos is no-go area for miscreants. Although, they call the perpetrators Malians and Chadians, but they reside among your people here in Ijora.

"Please, talk to them and call them to order because if they refuse to desist, the result will be disastrous for them.

"I also want to say that the blame should also go to the Bayelsa State government for not taking care of their abandoned house where the evil doers are using as the hideout.

"We have been talking to them for a very long time to come and lease it out for the people that will make use of it, but they refused.

"If you ask the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in this area, he will tell you all our efforts to ensure that they come to either demolish or give it to the people that will make use of it, but they are yet to respond."

The Seriki Hawusawa, (Alhaji Garuba), condemned the incident and described the Arewa residents as peace-loving people who have been living in Lagos for a long time.

He said that the Arewa community will ensure that nobody hide under its umbrella to perpetrate evil.

Ninety-three suspected terrorists were yesterday handed over to the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Lagos State Command by the police.

It was reliably gathered that the suspects were mainly Chadians, Malians and Nigeriens.

Command spokesman of the NIS, Mr. Muyiwa Odunubi, who confirmed receiving the suspects from security agents, said the suspects would be paraded today by the Immigration command.

"I can confirm to you that we received 93 suspected Boko Haram members who were handed over to us by the police and other security agencies," he said.

‘Private, chartered aircraft to report passengers’ identities’

'Private, chartered aircraft to report passengers' identities'

Private and chartered aircraft operators are to indicate the identity of their passengers before their planes are cleared for take-off.

The Managing Director of Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Nnamdi Udo, stated this in Lagos yesterday when members of the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation visited the agency as part of their oversight function.

He said this became imperative as part of the safety and security measures in the aviation sector, in view of the security challenges facing the country.

He said as a matter of policy, the airspace agency has circulated air navigation notices to the affected operators to be abreast of the identity of persons who are on board aircraft flying in the airspace.

He said the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and NAMA are collaborating to protect the public. He insisted that foreign aircraft must inform the aeronautical agencies of the number of airports it intends to make brief stops, otherwise air traffic controllers would not give such aircraft take-off approvals.

Udo said NAMA has stepped up its revenue drive by providing air traffic services to private airstrips and helipads in the Niger Delta region, adding that a substantial amount of revenue would accrue to the agency from that.

He explained that NAMA has improved its air navigation services by completing the total radio coverage of the airspace to enhance communication between the pilots and traffic controllers.

He said the agency is planning to start a multilateration system of air navigation in the Niger Delta region for helicopters that serve the oil and gas industry, which fly at lower altitude.

2015: Lamido, Amaechi posters flood Kaduna streets

2015: Lamido, Amaechi posters flood Kaduna streets

From NOAH EBIJE, Kaduna

Barely 48 hours after the North West zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a reconciliatory meeting in Kaduna, posters of the Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido for 2015 presidency flooded Kaduna streets with his Rivers State counterpart, Rotimi Amaechi as running mate.

Lamido was reported to be absent at the North West meeting last Saturday. Most streets linking Kaduna South and North of the metropolis were splashed with the posters. Daily Sun observed the posters were conspicuous at the popular Ahmadu Bello Stadium Roundabout and on public structures, such as billboards, fences and poles in the metropolis.

It was also observed that some commercial motorcyclists and passersby momentarily stopped and gazed at the posters with keen admiration, with most of them saying in Hausa language that God should spare the lives of Lamido and Amaechi till the election year.   "Sai Lamido, Sai Lamido, Sai Lamido (it must be Lamido for presidency)," they shouted.

Sources in Kaduna volunteered that the appearance of the posters hours after the North-West meeting has cast a pall of failure on the reconciliatory effort led by PDP chairman. Contacted for comments on the posters, Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, David Iyofor denied involvement of the governor with 2015 election and posters.

"We are not aware of any such posters. We didn't ask anybody to paste posters in Kaduna or elsewhere," Iyofor said.

According to him, mischief-makers determined to ridicule the two governors werebehind the posters, as the Rivers governor had not indicated any interest to contest the presidential race.

Also reacting, the Director of Press Affairs to the Jigawa governor, Umar Kyari Jitau told Daily Sun that they knew nothing about the posters.

According to him: "You are in Kaduna I am in Dutse, if you have said you found the posters in Dutse, we may as well want to begin to investigate those behind it. But Kaduna, honestly we don't know anything about it and in fact you are the one telling me about it. I have not seen it," Kyari said.

Ex-Zambian President Banda Arrested Over Nigerian Oil Deal

Ex-Zambian President Banda Arrested Over Nigerian Oil Deal

Zambia's former President Rupiah Banda, has been arrested in connection with a Nigerian oil deal, struck with a Nigerian firm while he was in power an investigator told reporters.

"President Rupiah Banda has been formally charged and arrested in connection with the procurement of oil which did not benefit the country," NamukoloKasumpa, a spokeswoman for government investigators told reporters yesterday.

The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) also reported that Banda was  being accused of stealing more than $11million (£7m) during his three years in office, Reuters news agency reports.

Mr Banda, who was stripped of presidential immunity earlier this month, was questioned for nearly three hours before being freed on bail. The former president denied the charges and said he was a victim of a witch-hunt, he was immediately freed on bail and he is due in court on Tuesday.

Shortly after being released, Mr Banda addressed his supporters, telling them to remain calm and that he would win the case in court.

The former leader lost 2011 elections to Michael Sata, whose government is investigating several high-profile deals made by Mr Banda's administration amid accusations of corruption.

Banda led Africa's top copper producer from 2008 to 2011, but the online agency did not however, provide details of the Nigeria oil deals Banda is being charged for.

Late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was Nigeria's President during the period with President Goodluck Jonathan taking over the country's government after Yar'Adua's death in 2010.

Although details about the deal could not be gotten as at press time, sources said the deal could have been struck during the tenure of either presidents.

"This is a highly classified and coded deal, details of what transpired seems to have been kept in high secrecy but the truth will eventually come out," a source within the presidency told Leadership yesterday.

Insecurity: US Decries Rising Violence

Insecurity: US Decries Rising Violence

United States ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Terence McCulley has expressed grave concern over the increasing killings and bombings in the country. The ambassador spoke in Abuja yesterday during his visit to the minister of state for defence, Erelu Olusola Agbeja Obada, in her office with the service chiefs in attendance.

The minister led him to her office with the chief of army staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, and his air force counterpart, Air Marshal Alex Sabundu Badeh, including the acting permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Oguche.

LEADERSHIP checks reveal that the ambassador expressed the concern of his country over the rising terrorist attacks; he cited the Kano bombings and those that reportedly took place in Jos and Maiduguri recently and was said to have told the security chiefs to do more in containing the menace.

A source close to the meeting also confided in LEADERSHIP: "The US ambassador told the minister and the service chiefs that his country was not happy with the rise in the terrorist attacks and made a particular reference to the Kano incident where five luxury buses scheduled to travel to Lagos were bombed which led to the death of people numbering about 60. He called for more intelligence gathering to prevent such an attack and disclosed the readiness of his government in this regard."

Although the defence ministry officials promised that the ambassador would speak with the media after the meeting, he could not do that. But the meeting continued with the service chiefs before some GOCs began to come in. They later joined them at the meeting.

The source disclosed further that the minister was able to convince the ambassador about what the military is doing to contain the Boko Haram. He cited the recent successes recorded of recent -- the arraignment of a kingpin, Kabiru Sokoto, last week and how the military has been consistently arresting some members of the sect and exposing their hideouts in the country. The service chiefs were said to have cited the military assaults on the Islamic extremists in Mali by the AFISMA as the factor responsible for the upsurge in the terrorist attacks and vowed to contain them.

Speaking with newsmen later, Minister Obada explained that the meeting with the ambassador was a regular one that has to do with the US-Nigeria bilateral relations and how to improve upon it, especially as regards the military support and other areas that are of mutual interest to the two.

She said: "We have a beautiful meeting with the ambassador to further deepen the cooperation between Nigeria and the US and we discussed a lot of issues that are beneficial to both countries. United States of America and Nigeria have come a very long way together in terms of military cooperation, in terms of training and so many other things. We intend to keep our relationship with them to ensure that the two enjoy each other's confidences. There are other issues that we discussed towards ongoing happenings which good explanations have been given."

When asked the reason for the presence of the service chiefs at the meeting, the minister explained that since the meeting had to do with military training, it is imperative to have them around. She disclosed that the chief of defence staff, Admiral S Ola Saad, was away to Ivory Coast attending the ECOWAS Chief of Defence Staff's meeting while the naval chief, Vice Admiral Dele Ezeoba, was on official tour to Delta State.

According to Obada, the meeting has nothing to do with the controversial state pardon recently granted former Bayelsa State governor, Diepreye Alamieyesiegha. "No, no, we did not discuss that; this is the Ministry of Defence and we only discussed issue affecting the ministry," she added.

Soyinka tasks Boko Haram over Islam

In a related development, Nobel laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has called for the re-education of the members of Boko Haram on the true meaning of Islam, on the grounds that members of the sect have limited knowledge of Islam.

Soyinka made the call yesterday while speaking at the 2013 education summit organised by the Rivers State Ministry of Education at Government House, Port Harcourt.

The education summit was attended by Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, former vice- chancellor of the University of Ibadan Prof. Ayo Banjo and the first military governor of Old Rivers State and Amanyanabo of Twon Brass, King Alfred Diete-Spiff.

Soyinka said; " All hope is not lost, but the situation is desperate, very desperate. The kind of education also is important really. Those who call themselves Boko Haram, for instance... yes, they claim to be educated.

"Educated to mean books and they are not sufficiently educated even about their religion to know that some of the greatest philosophers came from that religion; some of the greatest mathematicians were pioneer Muslims, Islamic scholars.

"So, the killers roaming around sayimg they hate western education, they are uneducated. They have been taught on monorail -- one-track lane. They need to be re-educated even about their own history, culture. "

The Nobel laureate urged the federal government to closely monitor the programmes of the newly established Almajiri school currently functioning in several states in the northern part of the country.

Soyinka said: "So, when people talk about multi-pronged approach, yes, I agree and I approve of the attempts being made to create the so-called Almajiri schools, which should be supervised. The content and method of teaching should be supervised."

He decried the recent onslaught by members of Boko Haram against teachers and wondered how the society will increase in knowledge if teachers were being slaughtered on almost a daily basis.

The Nobel laureate said: "At the same time, however, to impart knowledge, you have to have the heads where they belong for knowledge to be imparted. So, at the same time talk about amnesty as much as you want, but you have to catch those who are trying to take heads off where we are supposed to impart knowledge."

Amnesty, panacea to sect violence – Coomassie

Sequel to calls from some quarters that amnesty should be granted to Boko Haram, a former inspector-general of police (IGP), Alhaji Ibrahim Coomassie, has said that amnesty is the solution to the insurgency.

Speaking in Abuja over the issue, the former IG said the government should not segregate the amnesty programme which has worked with the Niger Delta militants.

Commassie said, "We have tried it somewhere and it worked; when it was thrown to the Niger Delta militants, they accepted it and started surrendering their arms and they've been talking and now a lot of them have been sent abroad for various courses. So why can't we try this with Boko Haram, why can't we talk to the elders of Borno and Yobe on how they can help to get the leaders of Boko Haram so we can dialogue with them and grant them amnesty so they can talk freely and then we look into their problems?

"I'm saying this because I happened to have gone to Borno and Yobe under the auspices of Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation to sympathise with the leadership, where they told us that we should tell whoever wants to know that they can talk to the ghosts; let them just approach them and they will find out who they are because they have been talking to them."
