As expected, the report on how the Kenyan football team, Harambee Stars were treated on arrival into Nigeria to play a World Cup qualifying game against the Super Eagles on Saturday drew a lot of attention from both countries.

There were also accompanying pictures that showed the visiting team training by the side of a building, allegedly at Oshodi primary school instead of a refined football field.

Subsequent reports revealed that they received a poor welcome at the airport on Wednesday, were also told their flight to Calabar where the match is scheduled to hold tomorrow had already left, then were lodged apparently in a 2 star hotel without security.

Readers obviously passionate about their team and country took to twitter after the news was published and by midnight yesterday, #SomeoneTellKenya and #SomeoneTellNigeria was still trending worldwide.

According to reports, tweets were coming in from Asia, the US, UK and across Africa.
