Simple but effective ways to please your boss

Your boss is one of the most important individuals in your life after your family, friends and relatives because he is the person who affects your working relationship. He is the person who can have a massive impact on your life because it is under him that you will foster your career and work for a living.  So, it is essential to develop pleasing working relationship with your boss for your career.

The following suggestions will help you in pleasing your boss.

Be honest: In any organisation, honesty and loyalty is the most important thing. A sincere and loyal employee will be viewed by the boss as someone who will stand by the company or him under any circumstance. Therefore, he is someone who can be relied on.

Show your performance: You deserve to be recognised for the good things that you have done in your job. Make your achievements visible and known to your boss in a manner that you think suitable.

Inform your boss: Your boss is the one who is overall responsible for things happening in your company or in your department whether they are good or bad. You are given tasks to do and you should keep him informed about the progress of your work. Inform him immediately on any matter of importance so that he could take necessary actions. It is a way on which he could avail a good opportunity or prevent a bad thing to happen. Don't keep any important information to yourself because things might go wrong. It would be unwise to report matters to your boss when they have already happened or have gone out of hand.

Do your best: Show quality in every work you do and keep on improving and your boss will like you for it. Never compromise with the quality of work and don't take things lightly.

Be positive: Make better suggestions before your boss makes decisions. However, once he decides or has chosen a way of action to take, give your willing support despite if you think that your idea was better.  However, he is the one ultimately responsible for things that happen in your company. There is nothing more unpleasant to him than a habitually complaining subordinate who focus more on the problems rather than finding solutions to them.

Improve yourself: By improving your skill and knowledge through various means like study, attending workshops and seminars you will be able to turn out quality work which will please your boss.

Accept responsibility: To reassure your boss that you are a trustworthy, you should display that you are reliable. Accept responsibilities and take challenges and do them to the best of your ability. A good performance will impress your boss. This situation will give you a better image that will help your career in the future.

Be proactive: Understand the things in the company that you can make a decision and do on your own even without prior approval of your boss. Don't wait for things to happen. Don't wait for your boss to tell you to do your work either. A boss would appreciate subordinates who take initiative to do things by themselves. Such as taking decisions on security matters or an accident, etc.
