Microsofts Adds Google Chat to Outlook.com
Microsoft has touted many reasons why it thinks you should switch to its all new Outlook.com email client. With over 400 Million users on the platform, it has added yet another enticing reason to make this switch from whatever competing platform you utilize. Microsoft today announced that it has added Google Chat to the chat feature of Outlook.com. If you are not in the know, Outlook.com's chat already connects to facebook and MSN Messenger with a Skype fork already in the works. These are in addition to Skydrive integration and integration of all your contacts from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and a host of other social networks.
Outlook.com is not the standalone outlook app you are familiar with. Outlook.com is Microsofts new web based email service similar to gmail, yahoo and hotmail. All hotmail users were recently migrated to outlook.
Like with every other service, adding your Google contacts is a simple process outlined HERE. Outlook.com automatically imports all your contacts to your address book and you should be able to start chatting right away.
With this new addition, one hopes such an integration will find its way to Windows Phone and Windows 8 in the Blue update that is expected to roll out later in the year. This will be a killer feature Microsoft can sell to potential customers as many already love and appreciate the integration of Skype, Facebook and Twitter in Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.
