PRACTICAL LESSON OF THE DAY (TRY IT)

FOCUS!

Focus on the Red Dot and holla if the blue circle disappears.

This is a practical demonstration of the word 'focus'.

When you focus on a thing, the remaining thoughts and objects should disappear.

PDP To Lose Majority In National Assembly; Its Members Now Joining APC Secretly

As the powers and interests that would shape the very important 2015 general elections continue to strategize and re-strategize, OluFamous.Com can authoritatively report that a serious up set is in the making for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.

PDP members in the National Assembly are now leaving the party secretly...
This is so as the All Progressives Congress, APC, have promised any National Assembly member who joins the party an automatic ticket to contest on its platform.

Under the current configuration of political parties in the House of Reps, the PDP has 204 members while the APC has about 130 members. But with the close relationship of the leadership of the House with opposition agents in the House of Reps, about a 100 members will be joining the APC.

The Senate is also not left out as the PDP's majority of 75 members is serious under threat, following what some of them have described as the emergence of 'another national party'.

If the coalition of merging opposition parties gradually gains more seats in the National Assembly ahead of the 2015 crucial polls, it will translate to more constituencies embracing the APC for victory in 2015.

This is similar to the calculations of the opposition in the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) where it has been gathered that some bold PDP governors would leave the party to join the APC to facilitate the conversion of their states ahead of 2015.

From what OluFamous.Com gathered, open defection of PDP lawmakers in the House may start next month but the Speaker will be the last to decamp; as soon as the opposition manage to secure a marginal majority over the PDP in the House he'll make his move openly.

Fear Of North Grips Jonathan: Meets Danjuma In Closed Door

Former minister of Defence, Lt Gen T.Y. Danjuma at the weekend, OluFamous.Com observed, described the economy of Nigeria under President Goodluck Jonathan as troubled and in tatters. He also urged fellow Northerners to talk less and come together to take over power.
Less than 24hours after his statement, President Jonathan was already panicking...
He immediately called Danjuma for a closed door meeting where he begged for his support ahead of 2015 presidential election. Before the meeting, President Jonathan had told his close men that Danjuma is one of the Northerners with enough cash and his support for another candidate may cause "surprises".

Danjuma left Aso Rock with a straight face, suggesting that they may not have reached a compromise. The man is aware that ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo is supporting a Northern candidate for 2015.

Danjuma on Saturday also said the current situation in Nigeria was a clear indication of leadership.

Female Student Killed By Boyfriend For Rituals; Her Panties, Others Found

The circumstances is still shrouded in secrecy but facts at the disposal of OluFamous.Com is that the female student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology who was found dead behind a guest house was killed for ritual purposes. Her name is Oluwaseun Adaramoye, Seun for short.

Her breast, private part and others were cut off. Below are the facts:

Seun left her home on Friday for her boyfriend's place, who is also an undergraduate of the institution. He was said to have arranged with her to accompany him to a party somewhere in town.

Trying to play smart, the boyfriend later went to her friends and told them Seun had been missing for a few days and he was looking for her. Shortly after, her corpse was discovered behind the guest house.

Sources say as soon as the guy discovered that her body had been found he made attempt to escape but ran out of luck as he was nabbed and handed over to the Police.

In his statement to the Police the guy claimed that he had been out of town for some days, not knowing that Seun had told her her roommates she was going to spend time with him on Friday.

Consequently, OluFamous.Com gathered that policemen stormed the guy's room for a thorough search that lasted about 40 minutes. The search yielded results as they recovered Seun's panties and native calabash in his wardrobe. As at the time of posting, the police was interrogating the boyfriend in order to track down his accomplices.

Ladies just have to be careful, many people are desperate these days.

Are You Running From Nineveh?

Like Jonah, many of us struggle to embrace God's will for our lives. Don't let reluctance prevent you from fulfilling His purpose.

Jonah the prophet was a man who heard the voice of the Lord. The Bible tells us that God spoke to him and gave him clear instructions: "'Go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me'" (Jon. 1:2, NKJV).

But Jonah had a problem: He didn't want to do what God was asking him to do. Instead of obeying, he "arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord" (v. 3).

Basically, he said no to God and ran in the opposite direction.

Many of us are like Jonah. We receive a clear word from God, but we are either quietly rebellious or openly disobedient to His command. Often our reluctance to obey causes serious problems.

I know--because I had the same response Jonah had.

Called to Gather the City

Soon after I received a special visitation from God in 1997, the Lord called me to gather together the congregations in my city of La Plata, Argentina. He gave me a vision of revival there. When I closed my eyes, I could see a sports arena packed with people seeking the holiness of God.

After seeing that vision, I followed the conventional route and began to talk to some of my pastor friends who were leaders in the city. They tried to discourage me from obeying God. The pastors will not pray or work together, they assured me.

Nevertheless, I printed some posters to announce the event. But when I found out that the city was holding a secular festival during that same time, I let the matter drop, assuming I hadn't heard God after all.

Three years later, the Lord grew silent in my life. I went for weeks without hearing anything from Him.

I traveled to England to minister in a conference there, but He did not speak to me. The glory came, miracles of transformation occurred, but when I returned to my hotel room, God was strangely quiet. I could not sense His presence. Concerned, I asked Him about it.

One afternoon I went jogging and took my tape recorder with me. I was listening to the sermon of the speaker who had preached before me at the conference. I wanted to get an overall view of what God was doing at the conference.

As I jogged, I heard the speaker say: "God doesn't like to repeat Himself. He will speak to us once and then silently wait for our obedience." By the time he finished saying those words, I was no longer running; I was kneeling on the ground.

"Lord, that's me," I said. "Three years ago you asked me to call the churches together in my city, and I didn't obey. Forgive me.

"If You will give me a second chance, I promise You won't have to say it again. This time I will obey."

I was like Jonah after he had been thrown off the ship headed for Tarshish and swallowed by a large fish--a little more willing to submit to God's plan than I had been previously (see Jon. 1:15,17).

God gave me the second chance I asked for. However, by now we were not living or pastoring in the city of La Plata. We had resigned our local congregation to embrace a worldwide vision the Lord had given us.

It would not be as easy to carry out God's plan as it would have been before. Nevertheless, I planned a citywide meeting for all the churches. To get the word out, I started recording radio programs for the Christian radio station in La Plata. On the programs, I talked about the meeting and invited the churches to participate.

When I approached one of the pastors in La Plata to ask for his support, he replied: "This is the worst time to organize a rally! Pastors are divided. We just had a new split in the city, and the spiritual atmosphere is not good.

"If it was bad before, it is worse now. Do not try to rent the sports arena; you are going to lose a lot of money."

But this time I did not allow the voices of doubt to deter me. I knew I had received clear direction from the Lord, and I had given Him my word. So I decided to go ahead with my plans, with or without the pastors' support, if they would just grant me permission.

Eventually I received an e-mail giving me "permission to fail," but that was enough. I was convinced that I would rather fail doing God's will than succeed doing my own.

"Lord," I said, "some pastors have already let me know they are not supporting us. Some of them are forbidding their congregations to come to these meetings. There is no way we can pull this together.

"But Lord, in obedience to You, I am going to rent that sports arena. Even if only 50 people show up, I will do it, and I will fulfill my duties in that city!"

A few weeks before the meetings started, the pastors began to believe that the meetings were God's will. Young people gathered from separate congregations for a youth rally. They printed flyers and distributed them to the city. Something new had started to happen.

By the time my wife and I walked into the sports arena, the place was packed. On the second day, I still had doubts--and as if to support my doubt, a downpour fell all that day.

But that night the arena was packed again. On the third day, it was overflowing. The local newspaper reported that more than 6,000 people were crammed into a space that supposedly seated only 3,000.

The results of those meetings continue to be seen today in La Plata. The pastors began calling the churches together and holding united meetings once a month. Subsequent large gatherings have occurred. Momentum for a citywide revival continues to build.

Fulfill the Plan of God

Citywide revival occurred in Nineveh, too, when Jonah finally obeyed God and proclaimed, "'Yet forty days, and Nineveh will be overthrown!'" (Jon. 3:4). The people believed the word of the Lord, and the king instructed all citizens--rich and poor--to fast and give up their evil ways. The entire city turned back to God.

Wouldn't you be thrilled to see your city turn to God? Imagine what could happen if our civic and religious leaders would issue a proclamation similar to the one the king of Nineveh sent out! God could transform your city in a single day.

When God saw what the Ninevites did and how they turned from their evil ways, He had compassion and did not bring on them the destruction He had threatened through Jonah. His mercy triumphed over judgment.

Interestingly, Jonah was not pleased with the Ninevites' response. He was upset that they had repented and their city had been spared!

That's because he had no compassion for the people. He obeyed God's command to speak to them, but he ministered without hope of their redemption. He wanted them to get what he thought they deserved.

God is calling the church today to a higher level. He is telling us that transformation is possible. Zechariah 3:9 proclaims, "I will remove the sin of this land in a single day."

The Lord can revive a city in one day--just as He revived Nineveh. The time we spend in prayer, fasting and proclaiming will not be in vain--God will send the harvest.

But problems occur when our stubborn will refuses to fulfill the plan of God. When we decide we want God to do things our way and only our way, we set ourselves up to miss the blessing He intends.

Jonah's resistance to doing God's will caused several problems. One of them was delay. If you postpone obedience, you delay the will of God for your life and your city.

In essence we, His people, are dragging our feet as we serve Him. That is why the church is advancing so slowly. If we would let Him take us with Him, the Holy Spirit could move much faster.

The real problem with delayed obedience is that it becomes disobedience. We can believe ourselves to be very spiritual--but if we have forgotten what the voice of the Lord has whispered to us in the past, then we are deceived. God does not forget, and He does not change His mind.

As my wife and I entered that sports arena in La Plata for the united meeting we had finally planned in obedience to God's earlier word to me, a wonderful thing happened. People in the crowd began to stop me.

One man shook my hand and said: "Pastor, do you remember me? I was the taxi driver you witnessed to." Another lady came down from the bleachers and said: "Pastor Sergio, do you remember me? I was your neighbor, Coca. You stopped at my house and told me about Jesus. Now I am a committed Christian."

My heart rejoiced! I remembered the day I went to Coca's house in obedience to the Holy Spirit. She had gathered her teenage girls around her and made them turn off the television to listen to me.

When I had finished talking, I led her to the Lord. How happy I am that I did not postpone talking with her--I found out later that she died three months after I saw her at the united meeting.

Another problem caused by our disobedience is the negative influence it has on those around us. If we are not totally committed to the Lord and filled with joy about what God wants us to do, it will negatively affect our families or our marriages. Our churches will pick up on our attitudes, too.

It is unavoidable. If you are not in the will of God and are refusing to do what the Lord tells you, there will be an influence on others that is not good.

In Jonah's case, the negative influence was very evident. The boat he was in began to sink! A big storm came, and the people asked, "'For whose cause is this trouble upon us?'" (Jon. 1:8). They cast lots, and the results pointed to Jonah (see v. 7).

When we are not in God's will, we become the main problem, not the unbelievers around us. It was not the idol worshipers in the boat who were the problem at that moment. It was the servant of the Lord who was hiding from the will of God. We become the problem and create new and unnecessary crises with our disobedience.

The men on the boat asked, "'What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?'" (Jon. 1:11). But instead of saying, "Let's hold hands and repent before God and pray," Jonah said, "'Pick me up and throw me into the sea'" (v. 12).

He was ready to die rather than comply with the will of the Lord. So they threw him into the ocean, and a big fish came and swallowed him without killing him.

When Jonah was entombed alive in the belly of that big fish, he began to pray and repent. Then he said, "'I will pay what I have vowed'" (Jon. 2:9).

Finally, after being inside the fish, Jonah was willing to go where God had directed.

In other words, Jonah finally agreed to give God what he had promised. He had a change in behavior but not in attitude.

A lot of people comply externally with the vision of their church or with what God is doing in the city, but inwardly their hearts are not there. When our hearts are not in sync with our actions, there is no enjoyment.

But God is restoring the vision to see revival in our cities, and He is awakening us to the reality that He has called every one of us to be a part of the harvest. It is time to crucify our flesh and obey Him.

In a meeting recently, one young man came to me and said: "I was called by God to the ministry when I was a child. Then I went into a time of confusion, and to this day I have been confused. But today I come to the altar to tell the Lord that I am going to fulfill my vows and obey the calling of the Lord on my life."

Jonah never became an official backslider. He never quit believing in God, never stopped being a part of God's family. But his heart was far from God's will.

Perhaps you are an active church member and do not consider yourself a backslider. Yet, like Jonah, you have persistently resisted the voice of God. You may even be confused about what the will of the Lord is.

Disobedience will always bring confusion, but obedience will bring clarity. The way to pierce through the fog created by disobedience is to begin to take steps of obedience one at a time.

Have you put some of God's directives on the shelf?

Rise up, O man or woman of God! Align your heart once again with the complete will of God for your life. Reach out to your city for God.

Proclaim the day of salvation to those who need to hear it. Don't let negativity, offenses or excuses prevent you from embracing His will. Be a part of what God is doing in this day in your city.

If you are struggling with being willing to give everything to the Lord, it is because you do not trust the Father who loves you. Remember that God's will is perfect, good and pleasant (see Rom. 12:2).

Grasp this wonderful reminder of the goodness God has for your life: "Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance" (Ps. 16:5-6, NIV).

Britain plans £3000 visa bonds for Nigerians, others

UK Border Agency: New rules

Britain is planning to force visitors from Nigeria, India, Pakistan, and other countries whose nationals are deemed to pose a "high risk" of immigration abuse to provide a cash bond before they can enter the country, a report said Sunday.

The Sunday Times newspaper said that from November, a pilot scheme would target visitors from those three countries plus Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Ghana.

Visitors aged 18 and over would be forced to hand over £3,000 ($4,600, 3,500 euros) from November for a six-month visit visa.

They will forfeit the money if they overstay in Britain after their visa has expired.

Initially the scheme will target hundreds of visitors, but the plan is to extend it to several thousand, according to the broadsheet's front-page report.

The weekly paper said the move by Home Secretary Theresa May is designed to show that Prime Minister David Cameron's Conservative Party is serious about cutting immigration and abuses of the system.

The populist United Kingdom Independence Party has been encroaching on the Conservatives' traditional core vote in recent months.

Cameron wants annual net migration down below 100,000 by 2015.

"This is the next step in making sure our immigration system is more selective, bringing down net migration from the hundreds of thousands to the tens of thousands while still welcoming the brightest and the best to Britain," May was quoted as saying.

"In the long run we're interested in a system of bonds that deters overstaying and recovers costs if a foreign national has used our public services."

A Home Office official said the six countries highlighted were those with "the most significant risk of abuse".

Last year 296,000 people granted six-month visas were from India, 101,000 from Nigeria, 53,000 from Pakistan and 14,000 each were from Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Smell nice, please

Q: Why is a perfume important?

A: In fashion, perfume is considered an essential body accessory for men.

A perfume is known to add an aroma to your personality. It also influences your appearance. A well dressed man, sporting a good perfume, attracts attention from others, notably women.

Q: What fragrance do I wear?

A: Learn to differentiate a man's perfume from that of a woman's. Check the French word, Homme (it is boldly written).

The most common types of men's cologne are those with a woody smell, crisp and musky scents. Very few men's fragrances are floral because it is associated with women's scents. So, it's best you stay away from floral scents.

Q: Do I wear the same type of perfume everyday?

A: No. There are different fragrances for different occasions— milder perfumes for daytime and office environment, heavier scents for evening.

Q: Which perfume stays longer?

A: The amount of fragrance in each perfume differs in quantity and unless one is aware, you may assume that they are all the same. Simply check on the bottles as they are written on them. If 'eau de parfum (EDP),' is written that means it has the highest concentrates and provides a long-lasting fragrance.

Eau de toilette (EDT): This makes for a light scent that doesn't linger as long as the more concentrated version.

Eau de cologne (EDC): Sometimes used interchangeably with the term eau de toilette.

Q: How does a man wear cologne?

The most important rule to keep in mind is not to put on too much fragrance so as not to irritate people around you. Apply your perfume/colognes to your glandular points: the wrists, behind the ears and the neck. These are pulse points which are the centre of blood circulation. The perfume melts easily with your skin oil. If you are not comfortable spraying it on, then, try spraying the cologne in the air above your head and allow it to settle on your hair and shoulders, which makes for a much subtler scent.

I have no regret praising opposition – Tambuwal

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, has hit back at his critics within the Peoples Democratic Party who condemned him for showering encomium on Governor Rauf Aregbesola for his performance in Osun State.

Tambuwal, who spoke in Ilawe-Ekiti on Saturday after he was conferred   with the chieftaincy title of Bobagunwa by the Alawe of Ilawe, Oba Ajibade Alabi, said he was not the speaker for the PDP alone but for the whole country.

Tambuwal said, "I was criticised for commending Osun State governor's performance but  I will always speak the truth. If somebody is doing well we have to commend such person, whether they are in the PDP, Action Congress of Nigeria or in any party.

"I am not the speaker of a political party. I am the speaker for the whole Nigeria. Governor Kayode Fayemi has also done well and he should continue with the good work."

The speaker had in Osogbo during the launch of Opon Imo, an initiative of Osun State governor lauded Aregbesola, who is a member of the opposition ACN, for his achievements in the last three years.

The PDP Chairman in the state, Mr. Ganiyu Olaoluwa, had said Tambuwal's comment was unbecoming of a national leader of the party.

Olaoluwa said the speaker's comment raised posers as to whether he "is a member of the PDP or a supporter of Aregbesola."

But the speaker, who said he was undeterred by the criticisms, also lauded Fayemi for his performance in Ekiti State since he assumed office and urged the governor to do more.

Tambuwal has been rumoured to be associating with the opposition raising speculation that he might be suspended by the PDP.

Fayemi, in his speech also described Tambuwal as a great leader who should be emulated by others, adding that his leadership style had stabilised the lower House.

The monarch also hailed Fayemi for his transformation of the state, saying the state had not witnessed such transformation before.

He, however, appealed to the governor to fast-track his plan to build a hospital in the town.

Alabi said, "We thank the state government for the plans to build a modern hospital and a housing estate in Ilawe-Ekiti. It is our hope that work will commence in earnest at the sites already given by the community for the projects."

MTN introduces shared Data bundles: How to share yours.

MTN Nigeria which accounts for 66% of all the internet subscriptions made on GSM networks, has announced yet another data product,"Shared Data Bundles"to its data using customers. The new product brings MTN's Data Share–a product which was previously available to only corporate postpaid customers to individual prepaid customers. It is also similar to one that Glo introduced last year, though it is unclear if that is still being offered as the information about it is no longer on their site.

Shared data bundles from MTN, allow customers who have data plans from 250mb and above to share their active data plan with up to 5 other users. Shared plans are split equally across the "Sponsor" and "Beneficiaries" so that a beneficiary manages his/her "share" of the data plan independently.

Only monthly plans from 250mb (i.e 250mb, 500mb, 1GB and 5GB) can be shared.

MTN_shared_data_bundles_techsuplex

If you want to share yours, here is how to:

  • First, register for the service by dialing *131*2*1# or by texting "Reg" to 131.
  • You will receive a confirmation SMS with a system generated 4 DIGIT PIN.
  • Change the default PIN that was sent to a new PIN (that you would remember) by dialling *131*2*5# and using the on screen directions or by texting "Change OLD_PIN NEW_PIN NEW_PIN" (eg Change 0000 1234 1234) to 131.
  • After changing the PIN, you can then add a beneficiary by dialing *131*2*3# and following the on screen menu or by texting "Add <Phone> <PIN>" to 131. You can add up to 5 beneficiaries.
  • When you are done adding beneficiaries, you can now share your available data bundle among your beneficiaries by sending the keyword "Share <PIN>" to 131 or dial *131*2*4#.
  • Once shared, the data bundle will be divided equally between the sponsor and all her/his beneficiaries. E.g For a sponsor with 4 beneficiaries and 1GB, both the sponsor and the beneficiaries will receive 250MB each.

Quick thoughts on Tecno

There is a little-known player on the mobile phone scene in Nigeria, rarely seen and often loathed simply known as Tecno. They seem to be in it for the long haul, not just Nigeria but in Africa as a whole. They are not only pros at the dual-sim phone but also produce Android phones at affordable prices, such as the Tecno F7 (Phantom A1), Tecno N7, Tecno Q1 to name a few. As a result, they are starting to build a small but steadily growing fan base. Looking at these phones, we see the re-branding being done on their products moving them from the clunky Chinese phones overloaded with every single function that can fit on them to amazing Android phones.

I see a trend where people are ashamed to buy and use their Tecno phones in public for fear of ridicule. Let me insert a quick reminder, the much loved Samsung and HTC brands were once in similar shoes and not deemed praiseworthy, look where they are now. Tecno Mobile is following in their shoes as it attempts to enter the market with strong offerings. One valid point I came across time and time again and which I believe is true is that here in Nigeria everyone wants to be associated with expensive goods even when there is an equally as good substitute which is much cheaper and does the job just as well.tecno_f7_techsuplex

Looking at the current offerings on ground, and dismissing Tecno simply for being Chinese would be a mistake. Samsung is a Korean company and assembles some of its parts in China, Apple assembles a core of its products in China and HTC is a Taiwanese company (all on the Asian Continent). At the moment, Tecno lacks OTA updates for their Android phones and suffer from an inability to upgrade the inbuilt operating system. I admit that this is a major deficiency and believe that these will be sorted soon. The 2013 flagship device, the Tecno F7 is billed to have this corrected and all other.

I came across the Tecno F7 recently in a mobile store and I was extremely shocked when I turned the phone over to see the Tecno logo. After testing its features, I moved from shocked to excited. I admit that Tecno Mobile still has a lot of things to catch up on, and needs to learn from its fellow Chinese contemporaries like Lenovo and Hauwei, but they seem to be headed in the right direction.

I'll drop a little confession on here, I don't use a Tecno phone, but I'd trade my current phone for the "chinko" Tecnos on the market be it the F7, N7 or N3 in a heartbeat. So I'll end by saying that if you've currently got a Tecno phone, be sure to rock it with pride, and if you can't, please send it my way.

Tega sent in these piece about her observations about the Tecno brand, I'll do a follow up piece about the Tecno phenomenon soon, Shout out to Tomi for editing the piece in my absence.- Editor

Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola will turn 50 on June 28th. His aides were planning an elaborate 50th birthday party but he asked them to stop. He doesn't want to have an elaborate birthday at tax payers expense. I love my governor. Read what he told City People below:
"By nature I am not a ceremonious person. I don't like all the noise and partying. When I saw all the plans going on for my 50th, I said no. If this is my day, then those who really love me should allow me do it the way I want to. I have told my aides how I feel about this whole 50th birthday celebration. I asked them if governors in other countries don't have their birthdays and is it usually in such a loud way and manner? If I do it my own way it won't cost me that much to receive my visitors. I funded my 40th birthday when I was Chief of Staff and it cost me so much. I am not quite sure I can do the same now. As a Governor, it will cost me more. I am not sure I want to spend that kind of money on parties. And to tell you the truth, the idea that probably I will have a birthday at tax payers expense is something that does not go down well with me, and it's only for 24 hours. So I am going to have a very quiet and simple day with close friends and family.

Sad: Boy,13, kills half-sister, 5, with moves he learned from watching World Wrestling Entertainment on TV

Vilger Louis talks about his daughter Viloude, dead after suffered multiple injuries after her half-brother allegedly beat her.

THE TIMES-PICAYUNE

Vilger Louis talks about his daughter Viloude, dead after suffered multiple injuries after her half-brother allegedly beat her.

A young teen beat his little half-sister to death using wrestling moves he'd copied from the TV, police claim.

Devalon Armstrong, 13, is accused of repeatedly slamming Viloude Louis, 5, onto a bed, punching her in the stomach, jumping on her back and elbow-dropping into her kidneys.

She suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding and liver lacerations from the brutal bashing at their Terrytown, Louisiana, home.

Cops say Armstrong was babysitting his younger sibling on Sunday afternoon when he decided to test out some moves he'd seen on World Wrestling Entertainment.

Later complaining of having a stomach ache, she went upstairs to brush her teeth — before being found by her brother 30 minutes later in crippling pain on the bathroom floor.

Realizing she was no longer breathing, Armstrong took her downstairs to the sofa and dialed 911.

Paramedics arrived on the scene but found her unresponsive. She was pronounced dead soon after.

As there were no outward signs of injury, Louis's death was at first deemed "unclassified."

But a coroner's report released on Tuesday found she had died of multiple injuries.

Armstrong, who reportedly confessed to carrying out the moves, was arrested later that day on suspicion of second-degree murder.

He is currently being held at a juvenile detention center, reports The Times-Picayune.

Psychiatrists will now evaluate whether Armstrong is mentally able to participate in his own defense. A hearing is scheduled for next month.

Watch it! 7 negative effects of smartphones on your health

by Melissa Diem

phone

If you take your phone to bed you may find yourself plugged in while you should be winding down. Instead of relaxing your brain, you are feeding it with more thoughts.

Have you noticed the negative effects of your smart phone on your health? Many believe our beloved cell phones and all their hyped-up technology are damaging our health in more ways than one. Learn more about the negative effects of your smart phone, and let me know what you think in the comments below.

1. GERMS

I, for one, never really think about my phone being dirty. It's not like I let it roll around in the mud or play in the trash. However, my phone touches many surfaces, all of which may not be clean. Obviously our hands are the number one things that touch our phones, and then we put the phones to our face. This easily spreads germs. Luckily, this is one of the negative effects of your smart phone on your health that you can make better. Try to wipe down your phone regularly with sanitizing wipes to cut back on the germs.

2. CREATIVITY

Believe it or not, smart phones can dampen your creativity. In order to think creatively you need a little down time to let your mind wander. If you are like me, any free moment you have is spent checking up on various people via social media, reading news updates, or checking out the most recent posts on AWS. That doesn't leave much for my own creative thoughts to flourish.

3. DISCONNECT

Some people find themselves so addicted to their smart phone that they feel disconnected from the people in their life. One friend of mine confessed that she missed her son's first steps because she was reading a text message and not savoring the special moment. Unfortunately, that is something she can never get back. Now she turns her phone off when she gets home so she can connect with her family instead.

4. TEXTING AND DRIVING

We all know that texting while driving is a horrible idea. Yet, so many of us still do it. Taking your eyes off the road even for a second to read a text or respond can easily cost you your life or the life of someone else. Don't let your smart phone be a distraction to you while driving, it's not worth it.

5. STRESS

While many of us love being able to stay connected through email, text, and calls with our smart phones, it's that same constant availability that can lead to major stress. This is especially true for people with high stress jobs. Every time the phone rings or alerts a new message they feel a slight tinge of anxiety. No one needs that sort of stress in their lives.

6. PRODUCTIVITY

Is your cell phone keeping you from being as productive as you could be? I know I am very guilty of this. I may sit down for a moment in the morning to check my emails. My intention is to check my emails and then get started with my work or chores for the day. Unfortunately, more times than not I end up checking emails and then Facebook. While looking at Facebook I get an alert that it is my turn to create a word on Words With Friends. Stumped on what word to put I head back over to my Facebook App. Before I know it, it's time for lunch and I'm hungry, but even then I don't put my phone down. Instead I go to my Pinterest App to find a yummy recipe for lunch or dinner. Please tell me I am not alone.

7. SLEEP PROBLEMS

Smart phone are also linked to many sleep problems. If you take your phone to bed you may find yourself plugged in while you should be winding down. Instead of relaxing your brain, you are feeding it with more thoughts. It's hard to fall asleep when your brain is buzzing with new information. To avoid sleep problems, turn your phone off at bedtime instead of making it your nightly companion.

As you can see, smart phones easily affect several areas of our overall health. I am not saying we should all throw out our smart phones, but we should practice a little moderation for the sake of our health. Have you noticed any ways your cell phone negatively affects your health?

Is Wole Soyinka Responsible For Chinua Achebe's Accident? See The Facts

Professor Wole Soyinka has berated critics, who attributed the cause of late Chinua Achebe's accident that eventually confined him to a wheel chairuntil he recently breathed his last, to the "spotless ram" he presented to him as a gift for his sixtieth birthday.
What actually happened? Why are people accusing Prof Soyinka? Details below:

Soyinka, in a release entitled "The Village Mourners Association," lamented the reaction of a category of people he likened to "homicidal clerics," whom he said began to spread the falsehood after Achebe's burial.

According to Soyinka, it was wrong for people to situate the ram he graciously presented to a friend on his birthday, which he (Achebe) warmly received with a comment "Typical of Wole," as the cause of Chinua Achebe's motor accident. Soyinka tells his own story in the release.
Here goes the story, for those who seek light relief from ponderous unctuousness:
"What happened was that I found myself unable to return to Nigeria for a Colloquium in honour of Chinua's sixtieth birthday.

My dramatic mind immediately scrambled for some striking manner of compensation. "So I telephoned a business friend who had some agricultural connections in Delta State and told him: find the chunkiest, spotless ram in Delta State – all white or all black, but a thoroughbred of striking physique.
"Find a leather pouch, tie it to its neck with the following message and deliver it at the venue of the Colloquium. I no longer recall the exact dictated wording, nothing inspirational, just the usual felicitations and injunctions to turn that ram into asun for general feasting.
"Those who attended the event will recall the grand entry of the gift – as reported by one and all, including the foreign visitors, and Chinua's reported reaction, seated on the podium. He shook head and said, 'Typical of Wole.'
"The ram was then led off to meet its destiny at the hands of the gathered. (As a side note, it was I who took a gift away from his seventieth at Bard University – a sobering flash of time past that resulted in my ELEGY FOR A NATION. I had that poem re-published to mark the day of his funeral.)
"Our story is only beginning. On the way back from that celebration, Chinua had his accident and was flown to the United Kingdom. At the first opportunity, I made my way there and called up the High Commissioner, Dove-Edwin, who was certain to know the hospital location.
"It turned out that he also planned a visit that afternoon, and he agreed to give me a ride. We waited – I was joined by two others – waited, and waited, then a phone call came from him that the visit had been called off. The High Commissioner would explain why, on arrival – over a promised dinner, as compensation.
"That explanation was this: Dove-Edwin had received communication that some of 'Chinua's people' – a university professor among them, who was named – had pronounced publicly that 'Chinua should have known better than to accept a spotless ram from his enemy' – yes, that was the word used – 'enemy.'
"I verified this report from various other sources. Later, an alternative diagnosis surfaced: 'Chinua had been too long away from the chieftaincy politics of his hometown, otherwise he would have realized that the title that he took was coveted by some others – and these were deeply steeped in traditional psychic combat.'
"In short, those rivals 'did him in.' Both diagnoses competed for dominance for a while, petering out eventually. "Before the promotion of that alternative cause-and-effect however, Dove-Edwin had re-scheduled, and we had a most bracing, optimistic afternoon with Chinua. Yes, our patient was eventually told the cause of the earlier postponement, and he had a good laugh.
"On my return to Nigeria, I could not wait to take the opportunity of a public lecture to invite all desperate enemies to please send me their rams of choice – spotless, spotted, piebald, striped or nondescript – so I could treat starving writers to free meals in my home for the rest of the year. And I promised to taste a piece of each ram before serving."
Soyinka said it was that same breed that "continues to sow poison in the minds of the susceptible." He said those people may want to position themselves of "being there, even when absent," yet they "ostentatiously" position themselves at the event, or at vicarious gatherings to denounce, attribute sinister motivations, and inseminate hate against those whom their "pedestrian vision cannot see."
"Your very loudness proclaims your absence," Soyinka said. "You were always absent. You will always be absent. So, this communication is not really meant for you but for those potential almajiri – whose minds you corrupt daily with your jeremiads in that accommodating madrassa known as Internet," he said. Addressing his critics, Soyinka said they should not misinform their audience.
"As a teacher, I lament your failure to use the opportunity of the passing of a revered writer to turn your younger generation in enlightened directions. "You have chosen instead to coarsen their sensibilities and breed in their minds misunderstanding, suspicion and above all – hate!"
"You will have understood by now how I have come to view you as no different from the homicidal clerics who arm youths with kerosene and match, cudgel and knife, a few Naira in their beggars' bowls, and dispatch them to set fire to structures of comradely cohabitation, of reflection, of mind enlargement, and destroy communities of learning.
"Your gospel of separatism goes beyond the geographical – in which I have not the slightest interest! – but the humanistic. The difference is in the weapon – in your case, poison, mind corrosion.
"The means – Internet, and it's wide open, undiscriminating generosity. That is where you lay spores of poison, and doom future generations to a confinement of human relationships within the darkest corners of the mind.
"You are beyond pity. Kindly absent your selves from my funeral, when that event finally intrudes," Soyinka said.

Father Of Dead Abused Lady Warns Other Parents At Daughters Graveside! | FreeMash

HE SAYS ''As our daughter is interred into her eternal rest, all parents, friends, on lookers must strive hard that their children, and relations do not fall into the nets of the satanic wicked spouse''

Oration at the Grave-side of Late Yetunde Omodolapo Olotu-Jagha on June 14,2013 in Dublin,Ireland by her father.

I really dont know what to say, this is really so sad!

His daughter Yetunde wrote a letter to her abuser before she died.see the mail by clicking here

The fathers Oration reads
'' It is indeed agonizing to write this story; it is about our beloved daughter Yetunde Omodolapo Olotu Jagha, she had a happy and enviable childhood, committed parents, a dream secondary school, her dream university and graduated a truthful, fulfilled, Christ- loving adult.

1. Yetunde Omodolapo had just gained an admission into the federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeriafor a master degree program when suddenly she brought Mr.Noble Oritsemeyin Jagha(Oti) for marriage. It was marriage or nothing as they had agreed to suspend that admission for another year which never materialized.

2.The entire (Idano) betrothal obligation that was expected to be provided by the husband's family according to Yoruba tradition was not provided.  We bore the cost of these betrothal obligations: the entertainment at the engagement ceremony and the after-marriage party. This was done in good faith just as we accepted the husband in all sincerity not minding his financial status.  We took him as a son.

3. Not long after the birth of their first child, news started filtering to my wife and  I that Oti as the husband was fondly called stayed out late and had at some stages  beat his wife even with belt. "I wonder why my daughter had to undergo this brutish act, despite the fact that she was betrothed to him a virgin; a virtuous woman she was!

4. In this quest my daughter departed to Dublin, he continued in his night crawling; leaving their little child alone all the time. He was also involved in loads of unhealthy relationship with strange women.  This information became known to through his driver when my wife and I stayed a night in his house while he was said to have traveled. He even brought home women laundry. We did not inform our daughter about this discovery because we wanted to save their marriage which was at the verge of dissolution. Hence, we encouraged Oti to join his wife.

5 The first sign of financial unreliability we experienced from Mr. Jagha was when my wife's nephew who lived in London sent Oti some money to be deposited into his bank account in a bank where Oti worked in Ibadan,Nigeria.  Up till date, the money has not been recovered from him.

6 .Then came his involvement in fraud which led to his flee from Nigeria. My wife also loaned him an amount of N1.2 million to repay his debt but he did not. Instead, he used the money as fare to flee Nigeria to London while he abandoned the entire family belongings. The Criminal Investigative Department officers that were laying siege on their home were subsequently led to us in Akure from Ibadan by his office driver with a view to apprehending me. This great loss of assets and dignity was another reason our late daughter became fed up with the unwholesome corrupt life style of this ignoble Oti as a husband. But after his pressure on us by incessant telephone calls and the fact that their innocent first, nursery age child was with him, also suffering in London, we persuaded our daughter to allow him join her in Dublin hoping that he would change for the better. Unfortunately, he never changed, he proved correct the Yoruba adage which says "the character of a man never leaves him because it is in- borne." He started his ignoble life style; fighting his wife over allowances from government that was meant for the children's maintenance, the wife's earnings from her daily toils, and his free life style. Rather than pick up a job to join in the maintenance of the family, he prefers to loiter the street in quest for flings and speaking on the phone for hours with women.

7 .He finally made his wife to have another pregnancy that gave them the twin baby girls for which reason the stone- hearted husband abandoned the wife in the hospital because none of the twins is a male child. From that time, he boasted to me several times on telephone, that he must have a male child from any other source. He hated the idea of our daughter not having a male child, he blamed and frustrated her for it even unto death. I pleaded with him that countries like Britain, Germany, India, Liberia etc had females as head of governments of their countries but this meant nothing to his resolute decision.

8. Jagha was accused severally of having affairs with married women in the church whose husbands in return made dolapo's life a living hell sending her texts and emails of curses and of threatening nature coupled with what she was facing at home and having to work 6 days a week to maintain the whole family, not long after, our daughter was diagnosed of breast cancer. According to Mr. Jagha, he knew when the attack (Satanic Arrow) was sent to him and the wife but he dodged it while his wife could not. He did not agree with the wife to see a doctor when the lump was initially found and disagreed it should be removed when advised by doctors.  He insisted on prayer alone and our daughter succumbed to his wicked advice wanting to be obedient. However when it worsened she had to be hospitalized. The husband's main  concern all the time had not always been the health of the wife but to extort money for his free life style, even though he refused to take up any Job.  The wife finally had to approach the court for a safety and protection order/ judicial separation when she could no longer bear the physical and mental abuse she suffered in the hands of Oti.  The church persuaded our daughter to withdraw any legal action which she did in obedience. The church claimed that Oti resolved to be of good behavior and pleaded return back to their home which he had abandoned with the family car so that dolapo had to trek with the children to school in bad weather while under treatment until her condition grew worse, he was never supportive despite all appeal to him from quarters including his wife until she was moved to the hospice.

9.From the Yoruba perspective, it should be inferred that the so-called arrow of cancer was Oti's diabolic act. So that once the wife was eliminated; he would be free to marry another wife as permitted by Christian faith, he had promised a certain lady in the church he was having an affair with that he would marry her when his wife dies, this was revealed to dolapo by the lady's friends. It may surprise you that this man is a "PASTOR." One is therefore surprised that such an ignoble Mr. Noble Jagha could be appointed a Pastor of that reputable church in which he worships even against his wife's plea that he needed to change, grow and restitute (she was ignored).  As the father of late Yetunde Omodolapo, it is my conclusion that her husband was responsible for her untimely cruel death; out of demonic acts and charms, long drawn oppression and neglect  even on her final sick bed.

Oti was the primary killer while cancer was just a secondary cause of death, and why is this not a surprise for someone who tried to kill his own blood sister.Throughout the time she was hospitalized her friends and church members drew a 24hrs roaster to take turns in taking care of her. The husband turned up once in a while to see if she was still breathing and urges her to transfer money to his account every week.  He stole her bank card at the hospital and robbed her a sum of One thousand Euros plus and transferred money from the deceased's account to an unknown account of a man in Athlone (An elder in the church whom we gathered he owes) and also fuelled his car and enjoyed the luxury of our daughters stipend in company of her girlfriends in Athlone on the grounds that he was getting paid for looking after his own children.  We reliably gathered that on the day our daughter died, her estranged husband's first concern was seizure of the death certificate and the approach of her late wife's office for information of how to collect her terminal retirement financial benefits. How dare you lay claim on the benefit of a woman you cruelly hated and sent to her early grave, and whose corpse was yet to be buried? This is unacceptable Mr Jagha!

10.When Mr. Jagha arrived Dublin, I advised him to engage himself in a meaningful employment from which he would be able to earn good money from which he could repay and restitute the embezzled money from the bank and become a free man rather than hide in Europe. He bluntly refused; the image of a wanted criminal meant nothing to him.

11.One could see, therefore, why late Yetunde could never be comfortable with a man without a conscience. A man who chose to cover his slothful, ignoble, secret and sinful life style with the title of a "PASTOR". This accounts   for his hidden agenda to eliminate his wife for not bearing a male child.

12.Mr. Noble Oritsetimeyin  Jagha boasted several times that he would assemble his prayer warriors and hold vigils to hasten her death; no wonder my daughter was not shocked when she saw the prayer points in Noble Jagha's purse which he forgot at the hospice while he came to ask for money from the wife as usual; the prayer-point stated that God should strike Yetunde's heart and that she should do no other thing except what he (Jagha) orders her to do. Little wonder, if this is the ideal prayer that a dying woman required on her sick bed. When she even pleaded with her husband to pray for her, he bluntly refused.

On the night before the death of my daughter, while my daughter could hardly speak, he was in another bout of accusations about who said what about who reported to the child-protection agency that he left the kids at home for two days on a row to go to school and sleep all by themselves while he visited his concubine in Athlone while Yetunde was at the hospice. Now that she is dead, how then, can Mr. Noble Jagha suddenly develop sincere love and concern for these innocent female children after the death of their mother? We are aware that you see them as your meal ticket/money bag and nothing else…….

The wicked shall not go unpunished therefore; a so-called pastor who has not a fruit of the spirit to show for the prayer power he claims to demonstrate is another Elymasthe sorcerer and shall disappear into hell suddenly as such at God's appointed time.

Therefore, no one seeking the true God, and therefore true success, true prosperity here on earth, and eternal life for that matter, should worship under such a pastor  regardless of what powers of prayer he demonstrates (Matt 7 -21-23). God's word stand for ever "Surely the wicked shall be caught in his own craftiness; he shall not go scot-free.

13 As our daughter is interred into her eternal rest, all parents, friends, on lookers must strive hard that their children, and relations do not fall into the nets of the satanic wicked spouse. Christian churches of the living God should strive hard that they do not hire pastors like the ignoble; Satan- possessed Mr. Noble Jagha that will send their innocent worshippers into eternal doom.
Yetunde, my beloved daughter, rest in perfect  peace, in the bosom of the living God of vengeance till we meet to part no more''.

Success Made Certain

A great sage in Japan was visited by a fighter.

The fighter was afraid of losing and asked for guidance. The sage told him not to worry, not to be afraid. He said he had a powder that would make him unbeatable. He told him it made everyone else he gave it to unbeatable as well.

The fighter listened intently. The sage then gave him the powder and told him how to mix it with water every day.

He said that if he drank it in water before his fights he would be assured of victory. This powder would give him strength, speed and stamina, it would make him invincible!

For many years afterwards this fighter was unstoppable. He never lost a single bout. He was absolute perfection, just as the sage predicted.

The Real Powder

Then one day the fighter visited the sage to ask for more information about the powder. He wanted to know why it was so powerful and what was in it that made it so effective. At this point the sage asked the fighter to follow him.

The sage led the fighter to a shed where food supplies were stacked. He reached into a sack, grabbed a handful of powder and let it fall form his hands.

"This is the magic powder I gave you", said the sage.

The fighter drew closer to the sack and proceeded to read the writing on the bag. Before the fighter could open his mouth the sage said, "Its flour. I gave you flour used for baking!"

"You gave me what?" Said the fighter. "Flour?"

"Yes, I gave you flour." said the sage. "And this proves that you won the fights because you had the 'knowing' that the powder gave you everything you needed to succeed.

It is this 'knowing' that causes success or failure. You could've succeeded without the powder if you 'knew' you would. When you 'know' something, there is no doubt. No resistance. When you 'know' something, your mind, body, and the power of heaven and earth conspire to make it come to reality. According to your 'knowing' you have achieved your victories. Now go back to your training 'knowing' what you do now, as you did with the powder ... and victory will be yours!

Great story right?

10 Reasons You're Probably Going to Fail

In a recent blog posting, Tony Morgan talks about reasons why leaders fail:

It's not your passion. If it doesn't make your heart beat fast or cause your mind to race when you're trying to sleep, you're probably doing the wrong thing.

You don't have a plan. You need a vision, and you need to identify specific steps to make that vision become reality. That includes a financial plan. (I happen to believe you need direction from God on this.)

You're waiting for it to be perfect. Test-drive it. Beta-test that new idea. You'll fall into the trap of inaction if you think it has to be absolutely right from day one.

You're not willing to work hard. Everything worth pursuing in my life has involved discipline and perseverance.

It'll outgrow you. Keep learning. Keep growing. But more importantly, build a team of people including leaders who can be who you're not.

You've had success in the past. I've watched organizations hang on to a good idea for too long. Time passes. Momentum fades. It's risky to let go of the past and jump on the next wave.

You're unwilling to stop doing something else. Complexity is easy. Simplicity takes discipline. You can't build a healthy marriage if you're unwilling to give up dating other women. Who/what do you need to stop dating?

You won't build a team of friends. Anyone can hire from a resume. You need to find people you want to share life with. In the long run, great relationships will get you out of bed in the morning.

You won't have the tough conversations. When breakdown happens (and it always does), someone needs to put on their big-boy pants and initiate the difficult conversation that leads to relational healing.

You're afraid of failure. When fear consumes you, it will cause you to do stupid things. You'll let negativity distract you. You'll embrace the known and grow comfortable with mediocrity. The more often you fail, though, the more often you'll find success.
